Ahar delegates were led by President *Shri Vijay K.Shetty and attended by Chairman copy Rights *Shri Vilas Jhaveri, Chairman Police Dr Satish Shetty & Advocate Shekhar Menon.
In continuation to our multiple representations with DPIIT team in New Delhi & through virtual mode.
We respectfully submitted the following concerns in front of the Hon'ble Minister.
1. Clarification on Licensing of Marriage & social functions -
Minister was categorical in his response stating that henceforth there will not be any charge on marriage functions and related to marriage only.
The DPIIT has officially waived music licensing fees for marriage, alleviating a major financial burden on the hospitality sector.
Members, this is a Great news for our industry and we are extremely grateful to the Hon'ble Minister listening to our prayer and giving much awaited relief to our hospitality industry.
2. Expectations of a single window licensing framework under Sangeet Dwaar
AHAR is the only body who have vociferously represented DPIIT for single window licensing framework & DPIIT also recognized the same.
Hon'ble Minister emphatically asked music companies for one week time for rationalization of tariff. Following a ministerial directive, music companies requested a one-month extension for tariff rationalization to replace arbitrary pricing with a standardized, government-approved system.
3. Clarification on collections by Private licensing entities (PPL and Novex).
Following a meeting with the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, all marriage functions are exempt from music license fees, and private entities like PPL and Novex are unauthorized to collect such royalties. The Ministry, with DPIIT oversight, affirmed that only government-registered bodies, such as RMPL and IPRS, may collect fees, with a one-month timeline set for tariff rationalization.
Shri Piyish Goyal Ji & DPIIT team acknowledged the constructive efforts of AHAR and agreed to convene another round of discussions with music companies in a months time for rationalization of the tariff.
We are grateful to the Hon'ble Minister to take out time for this important meeting and will keep you apprised about the latest happenings.
With Kind Regards,
Vijay K. Shetty
President
