Gaanesh R Awasthi is a young and dynamic social activist, philanthropist risen from the slums of Pestom Sagar, Chembur working relentlessly with the sole objective to uplift his area and its residents of Chembur, (Tilak Nagar, Pestom Sagar, Chedda Nagar, Munjal Nagar and Sri Nagar). His endeavour is to make his a Smart Ward and he is in constant lookout for volunteers and supporters
in his cause. He has been an active participant in various socio-cultural-political activities for the past 20 years, and has focused on multiple grass root issues such as eradication of corruption, creating civic sense, women safety, child labour, slum sanitation facilities, Senior citizens safety, election card enrollments, taking up many contemporary civic issues, and many other awareness programs including but not limited to Blood donation camps, tree plantation drives, peace march, youth sports activities, bhandaras, various health awareness program for Polio/ dengue/ malaria/ hepatitis/aids/cancer etc. To bring his dreams for his to reality and to initiate many more activities he contested BMC elections from the in the year 2017. While people were scared and keeping themselves safe during the , Gaanesh R Awasthi rose to the occasion as a and undertook many initiatives and activities to service and to provide relief to the citizens of his area. He has under taken more than 11 initiatives till date, to ensure residents of his constituency get relief and is just a phone call away. Initiatives that have supported and provided relief to thousands of residents of by Gaanesh R Awasthi are:
1. Creating a Citizens Support Task Force to educate residents on the situation,
2. Distribution of Cooked Food to infected families and travellers
4. Distribution of Ration to needy,
5. Covid-19 Awareness Camps
6. Distribution of Arsenic Album 30 Homeopathic Medicines that is known to boost immunity to fight the virus.
7. RTPCR Testing Camps were organized in societies to defect cases at grass root level.
8. Support was by in and around Vaccination Camps, were concerns of residents were addressed.
9. Distribution of Fast & Up, Vitamin C and Zinc tablets for immunity boosting
10. Sanitizations drives were conducted in police station, clinics, parks, gardens, religious places.
11. Sanitization works was undertaken in buildings and in the homes were, cases were found. This initiative has garnered lot of respect as the team works knowing that they have a greater chance of contracting the infection. How-ever Service before Self prevails.
12. Doorstep RT PCR Testing in coordination with BMC is being undertaken, benefit of which is enjoyed by all residents of . Apart from the above initiatives he is currently running the campaign “Education To Create Nation”, where in his NGO Awasthi Foundation has will adopt 100 students and pay for their education expenses for a year. Inspired by my father, since the age of 10, I have inculcated a strong sense of responsibility and wish to work for the betterment of our area, society and country at large. Post my father’s demise, I have been leading all his social initiatives while actively working for support, causes and providing solutions for day to day issues and troubles of local people of my . I am passionate and committed to serving one and all. I strive to bring happiness and security to the society at large and promise to improve the quality of life of all sects of people by lending a ear to their problems and acting on their day to day issues and concerns.
