Giving a farmer the right tools doesn't just change a field; it reshapes the future of a whole community.

Across rural India, smallholder farmers face climate uncertainty, soil degradation, and low yield efficiency. But access to modern tools, sustainable practices, and community-driven training fundamentally changes the equation.

Here is what actually happens when a farmer is equipped to succeed:

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗰𝗸, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘀

For small and marginal farmers, livestock can be a vital source of income, nutrition, and financial security. But livestock diseases can quickly affect productivity and put additional pressure on already vulnerable household incomes.

As a result, the Shashwat Gram Project, supported by Azim Premji Foundation, organised a livestock vaccination and health check-up camp in collaboration with the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying.

▪️ 250+ livestock vaccinated against Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD)
▪️ Health check-ups conducted, including examinations of pregnant animals
▪️ Farmers received professional guidance on livestock care and disease prevention

Beyond providing immediate healthcare, the camp reinforced an important message: prevention is better than treatment.

Regular vaccination, health check-ups, proper nutrition, hygiene, and timely veterinary care can help farmers protect their animals—and, in turn, protect their livelihoods. By bringing veterinary services closer to rural communities, the initiative is helping build healthier livestock, stronger farms, and more resilient rural households.

Protecting animal health also protects the future of farming families.

Bookshelves and quiet study corners are where Sandesh Pawar feels most inspired. He enjoys reading and discussing ideas with friends.

Before joining Jeevanshala, the absence of a proper learning environment at home made it difficult for him to focus on his studies. Transitioning to the residential learning centre provided the stability and environment Sandesh needed to thrive. Today, he maintains a disciplined study routine, spends hours exploring the library, and actively participates in competitions.

He has confidently delivered speeches on Republic Day and other events, showing his growing leadership and confidence.

Driven by his passion for innovation, he dreams of becoming a mechanical engineer and building machines that can shape the future.

Our work in the past 40 years across underserved districts in Maharashtra shows that sustainable development cannot happen in isolation; health, education, the environment, and economic resilience are deeply interconnected.

Our mission to build sustainable communities requires long-term commitment and multi-sectoral collaboration. We work across 11 districts in fostering self-sustaining rural ecosystems in Raigad; strengthening local health, preventive care in urban and rural areas such as Mumbai, Thane, Beed, Parbhani, Dharashiv, Latur, and Nanded; creating educational and child welfare programs in Raigad; building income streams and skill development in Raigad and Ratnagiri; promoting conservation in ecologically sensitive zones like Palghar and Dharashiv; and enhancing community-level resilience and disaster preparedness in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Jammu & Kashmir.

This has been possible only through cross-sector partnerships among social organisations, local leadership, and CSR stakeholders that help scale impact across these areas.

Even at 83, like many farmers, Kashinath Gaware and his son, Dharashiv, from Hipparga Sayyad, work diligently in the field despite tough conditions. Together, they tend to their 1.31-hectare farm.
But every year, they face the uncertainty caused by the region's hot, arid climate. Their seasonal borewell would dry up after the rains, and one long dry spell could destroy months of hard work.

This year, the situation became more difficult due to El Niño. Rainfall was far below normal, and many farmers in the village delayed sowing or worried about losing their crops.
Kashinath, however, decided not to give up.

With the support of a farm pond constructed under the Shashwat Gram Project, funded by the Azim Premji Foundation, he carefully planned his cropping, sowed on time, and used stored water only when the crop needed it most. Instead of relying entirely on rainfall, he managed every drop of water to protect his crop during the critical stage.

Today, while many nearby fields are under moisture stress, Kashinath's crop is healthy. More importantly, his confidence has returned. He now believes that farming is not just about waiting for rain but about preparing for difficult years.

"This farm pond has given us more than water. It has changed the way we think. Now we know that if we save rainwater and use it carefully, we can continue farming even when the weather is against us. I want my son to farm with confidence, not fear."
For Kashinath, the farm pond is more than a water source—it is the beginning of a more resilient future for his family.

For generations, rural women have carried the responsibility of their families while having limited access to savings, credit, banking, and financial opportunities.

In 1989, our late visionary Mrs. Vipula Kadri believed this could change. She founded the Vipula Women’s Credit Co-operative Society—creating a space where rural women could come together, save together, and build a more secure future.

Today, 4,000+ women have been empowered through Self-Help Groups, financial literacy, and access to micro-credit.

They are saving.
They are starting small businesses.
They are breaking free from debt.
And, most importantly, they are making financial decisions with confidence.

Because financial independence is about dignity, choice, and the power to shape a better future.

Like many youth in India, Sarthak had a burning passion to serve the nation. With limited financial resources and no guidance on recruitment pathways, eligibility, or preparation, his passion without a roadmap felt like a dead end.

Sarthak’s journey proves that talent is everywhere, but guidance is not. By replacing guesswork with a structured career roadmap, we can unlock the potential of rural youth and build a stronger nation.
