Dear DBM Friends and Well-Wishers,

We are delighted to share some heartening and humbling news with you.

On 27th February, DBM was honoured as one of the 11 Angels of Mumbai by the Free Press Journal, in recognition of our impactful and path-breaking work in the city.

The awardees were selected by an eminent jury panel comprising:
• Justice S.J. Kathawalla, Retired Judge, Bombay High Court (Jury Chair)
• Ziaa Lalkaka, CEO, HT Parekh Foundation
• Chetna Gala Sinha, Founder, Mann Deshi Foundation
• Amita Chauhan, Board Member, Social Venture Partners India
• Archana Chandra, CEO, Jai Vakeel Foundation
• Vinti Lodha, Trustee, Lodha Foundation

The award was presented to us by the Mayor of Mumbai, Ms. Ritu Tawade.

During his address, Justice Kathawalla commended all 11 NGOs for their dedication and commitment to improving the lives of Mumbaikars. He then made a special announcement — from his personal capacity, he would extend an additional award to five of his favourite NGOs from among the eleven.

It was a moment of immense pride and gratitude when DBM was named as one of those five.

This double recognition is truly a testament to the transformative work being carried out by DBM. It would not have been possible without the unwavering support, encouragement, and blessings of our donors, friends, well-wishers, trustees, and our committed team members.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Free Press Journal, the esteemed jury members, and especially Justice Kathawalla for his generous and inspiring gesture.

This award is not just an honour — it is a responsibility. It strengthens our resolve and motivates us to continue this journey of growth, service, and meaningful impact.

With gratitude always,
Team DBM

DBM recently celebrated its 18th Foundation Day in the company of 98 alumni—predominantly women, along with a few men—who had successfully completed vocational training at our centres and are now well placed in reputed hospitals, schools, and other organisations across Mumbai.

It was deeply gratifying to witness how many of them had effectively leveraged the initial support and training provided by DBM to build sustainable and progressive careers. Several alumni shared inspiring updates about their professional growth, including salary increments, promotions, and transitions to better employment opportunities.

One of our GDA alumni travelled all the way from Satara, where she relocated after her marriage. Owing to the skills and training she received, she secured employment at one of the leading hospitals in Satara and is currently earning a monthly salary of ₹45,000. Another GDA alumna shared that she is now supervising a team of 12–13 staff members at her hospital. Yet another alumnus has been promoted to the position of Facility Manager, while a student who completed the Workplace Readiness course is now employed with IndiGo Airlines, earning a salary of ₹50,000 per month. We will be sharing their individual success stories separately.

There were numerous such inspiring and heartening accounts that filled us with pride while also keeping us grounded in our mission. Despite facing social and economic challenges, these individuals demonstrated exceptional resilience and determination in building stable careers and supporting their families.

The collective efforts and commitment of the DBM team, trustees, and donors over the past 18 years have played a vital role in shaping these transformative journeys. Witnessing the growth and achievements of our alumni further strengthens our resolve to continue our work with renewed passion and dedication, ensuring many more such success stories in the years ahead.

Here is a glimpse of the celebrations.

MISSION HUNGER FREE INDIA

Dharma Bharathi Mission is the ‘core organization’ responsible to coordinate and achieve the goal of the Second Freedom Struggle of India. In fulfilling this divine mission, the members of Dharma Bharathi Mission are called to be committed to the growth and development of the last and the least in the Indian society. This commitment to the welfare of the last and the least is also a ‘spiritual option’ of DBM in their efforts to achieve the common basic goal of a ‘hunger-free, caste-free and corruption-free India’. Thus ‘Dharma Bharathi Mission’ (DBM) is a socio-spiritual organization dedicated to God for the divine mission of transforming India into the ‘Dharma Bharathi’ of our vision. Achieving the goal of ‘Purna Swaraj’ for India through a Second Freedom Struggle is an essential prerequisite for realizing the vision of ‘Dharma Bharathi’. DBM was initiated on 30th January 2003 by Swami Sachidananda Bharathi to provide organizational support and leadership to the National Regeneration Movement (NRM) launched by him from Hyderabad during the Golden Jubilee of Indian Independence. NRM was transformed into a ‘Second Freedom Struggle’ for the economic, social and moral freedoms of India as envisaged by Mahatma Gandhi with the common basic goal of ‘Hunger-free Caste-free Corruption-free India’ on 30th January 2008 at Gandhi Mandapam, Kanyakumari. DBM was also re-dedicated to God on that day as the ‘core organisation’ responsible to provide organizational support and enlightened leadership to the Second Freedom Struggle of India. A written Constitution was adopted on that day for DBM. Hence, 30th January 2008 is taken as the formal ‘birth day’ of DBM. The ’ Fundamental Duties’ of Indian citizens as enshrined in the Constitution of India under Article 51 –A), the Basic mission methodology, and the three self-commitments of the Second Freedom Struggle made to God on 30th January 2008 at Gandhi Mandapam, Kanyakumari, will provide a strong socio-spiritual foundation for the vision and mission of DBM. Dharma Bharathi Mission (DBM) is a socio-spiritual organization , a mission for human solidarity, holistic development and integral peace
