In Defense of Animals (India) IDA India is a non-governmental organization, working for animal welfare. We treat more than 1000 animals per month.

The organization was founded in Mumbai, India was born on 31st October 1996. Immediately the project of neutering of street dogs was taken up. A small beginning was made in March 1997 in two garages of a residential colony in a suburb of Mumbai. For three years IDA INDIA worked in small make shift camps. With the intervention of the Mumbai High Court, the Corporation handed over the premises at Deonar to IDA INDIA on 22nd December 1999.

Words shape perceptions. ❤️🐾

A street dog isn’t automatically aggressive, dangerous or scary.
Look beyond the labels and you may find a loving, playful, friendly and trusting soul. 🐶💛

Choose your words. Choose compassion.
Because every dog deserves to be seen for who they are, not what they’re called.

Kindness is not just what we say — it’s what we do. 🐾

When we choose compassion, we give street animals a chance to heal, feel safe, and live with dignity. Every gentle hand, every helping heart, and every act of care makes the world a little kinder. ❤️

Be kind. Be their voice. Be the change.

Some hearts have four paws. 🐾❤️
They don’t ask for much—just a safe home, a full tummy, and a little love.

Adopt if you can. Donate if you can’t. Every little bit helps us care for them.

Because they count on us. 🐾

🐾 Healing Needs Rest. Love Makes It Possible. ❤️

At IDA Deonar Hospital, these beautiful souls are taking a much-needed break from the streets — resting, recovering and rebuilding their strength.

Some have been rescued from injuries. Some are healing from illness. And some simply need a safe, peaceful place to regain their health.

Look at them — sleeping without fear, resting without having to run, and healing with dignity. 🐶❤️

But every day, their care needs food, medicines, treatment, clean water and a safe space to recover.

Your support can help us give them exactly that.

❤️ Donate. Share. Spread the word.
🐾 Every little contribution helps a rescued life heal.

Because sometimes, healing begins with something as simple as a safe place to rest.

🐾 Meet Varsha — Safe, Peaceful, and Loved ❤️

Some stories don’t need words to touch your heart.

This is Varsha, a gentle resident at our Deonar care centre. She is blind, but that hasn’t stopped her from finding her own little corner of peace.

Today, Varsha is safe, cared for and surrounded by people who look out for her. She sits quietly, trusting the world around her — a beautiful reminder that even animals who cannot see can still feel kindness, safety and love. 🐾

Her world may be dark, but she is not alone in it. ❤️

At IDA, every animal matters — including those who need a little more care, patience and protection.

Because every life deserves to feel safe.
