There cannot be anything more joyous than being a part of the learning process of any individual. To help someone educate, besides increasing the literacy quotient; it builds a career, resurrects a family, ensures a sane and safe society and creates a nation of contributing citizens. I can never thank the Almighty enough for giving me this opportunity to be a part of the academic journey of numero
us students most of whom are now converting their dreams to reality. It has been 15 years now and each moment has been worth the effort and I shall be forever indebted to my students. While the journey has been enriching and undoubtedly gratifying there have been two issues that have consistently troubled me both consciously and subconsciously. Highly correlated, both these issues deal with financial abilities of any aspiring student to complete his/her education. I have seen over these years either a student grapples and makes undue compromises and sacrifices to make ends meet so as to fund his or her education. And in more unfortunate circumstances the heartbreak of a student sacrificing education itself to make ends meet. Can we come together and take away either of these miseries that harrow potential students and help education win. I have attempted a modest and a humble initiative in this regard. With the help of some like-minded friends and individuals we have set up an educational foundation branded as “Abdul Gafoor Education and Social Welfare Foundation” which is incorporated under Section 25 of the companies Act 1956 and is registered as private limited company. One of the key areas that this foundation intends to create imprints is funding education of the deserving and underprivileged. A question that could immediately arise is why have another educational trust and/or why have these attempts when there are multiple agencies floating around. The answer to this is my experience over a decade. With all due respects and no disregards meant to any other trust or agency funding education I have seen some systems / processes with most of them that actually make the funding process cumbersome or humiliating. Abdul Gafoor Education and Social Welfare Foundation intends to fund the education of deserving and underprivileged students by making the process as easy as possible and most importantly maintaining the pride, dignity and self respect of the potential student claiming the assistance. I would like to reach out to each one of you and earnestly appeal to make healthy financial contributions towards this foundation that shall enable many more educated individuals and families. I believe this is the least we could do to thank the Almighty for the bounties that he has blessed us with.
