Ekam Foundation Mumbai charitable trust that works for better quality Health & Education for children

Ekam was formally inaugurated on Doctor’s day(1st July, 2007) as a Community Pediatric Project of CIOSA (Confederation of Indian Organisations for service and Advocacy). Then, it gradually spun-off as a registered non-profit organisation in August, 2009. Ekam Mumbai chapter was commenced in January 2013, with a view to address the infant mortality rates in Mumbai and other parts of Mahara

shtra. Its partnership with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) in collaboration with its other partners has been a cornerstone in providing training and capacity building exercise to all nurses in its hospitals. Get involved today:

A milestone in Ekam’s journey of institutional capacity building.

On 21 May 2026, we inaugurated Chaitanyam Eye Care Institute at Kale, Kolhapur — an initiative of Sweekriti Sociocare Foundation and Ekam’s largest Infrastructure Capacity Building support program so far.

Built from the ground up, this rural eye hospital will provide 4,000 free cataract surgeries every year for families in Kolhapur and adjoining districts.

We are grateful to Aditya Birla Capital Limited, LV Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and Operation Eyesight Universal for helping bring this vision to life. 🙏

She calls them "motion doctors" — and she's training to become one. 🌟

Anisha lost her father in 2023. Since then, her mother has been teaching at a Mumbai BMC school, holding the family together while Anisha pursues her dream in Rajkot, Gujarat.

That dream? To become a physiotherapist who serves patients in rural India — people who may never have access to the healing that movement can bring.

With a near-perfect SGPA across her first two semesters, Anisha isn't just dreaming. She's doing.

Today, we want you to meet kritika. 🌟

She lost her father at a young age and her mother in 2020. Raised by her uncle — a farmer — alongside her younger sister and grandmother, kritika never let grief become her story's ending.

Today, she's pursuing B.Tech in Computer Science at SPIT, Mumbai, with an SGPA of 8.2, driven by the dream her parents held for her.

The Ekam Unnati Scholarship is helping her make that dream real — one semester at a time.

Because when a family chooses hope over hardship, the least we can do is show up.

🌟 Shivani's story is one of courage, grief, and incredible determination.

After losing her mother and younger brother in a road accident, Shivani continued her studies with the support of her grandmother and family. While her father worked in an MIDC company and earned ₹15,000 a month, managing household and education expenses remained difficult. Still, she stayed committed to her dream of becoming a nurse.

With support through the Ekam Unnati Scholarship, Shivani completed her B.Sc. Nursing and, in 2025, cleared both stages of the NORCET exam. Today, she has been appointed as a Nursing Officer at AIIMS Nagpur with an offered salary of ₹92,000 per month.

Today, we want you to meet Nikita, a brave little girl from Satara. 🌟

Like any new parents, Nikita's (name changed) mother and father were overjoyed at her birth. But their world turned upside down when she started struggling to breathe, leading to a diagnosis of a severe congenital heart defect.

The life-saving open-heart surgery she desperately needed came with a daunting cost of ₹2,96,000. As farmers with limited means, they felt helpless and scared. But together, we made a difference!

Through our Ekam Aarogyam program—which has restored the health of over 1,292 children this year—we stood by their side to secure the funds for her successful surgery. Today, Nikita is healthier, happier, and back in her parents' loving arms. Her parents told us, "Ekam Foundation Mumbai saved our daughter's life and gave us hope."

What happens when you give a determined mother the chance to study? She changes her entire community. 🌟

Meet Manjusha Anugade. Despite facing immense personal challenges—raising two children on her own while her family struggled to make ends meet—her spirit remained unbroken. With financial support for her nursing fees from Ekam Foundation Mumbai, she successfully completed her GNM degree at Yashwant Nursing Institute, Kodoli.

Fast forward to today: Manjusha proudly runs Vatsalya Sevashram, a 20-bed nursing care center for the elderly! She now employs four staff members and independently manages her own enterprise. Our Managing Trustee, Ameeta Chatterjee, recently visited her in Kolhapur and was deeply moved by her journey from a struggling student to a confident healthcare entrepreneur.

Something beautiful happened at Z.P. School, Valve. 🌟

101 children showed up — not just to attend school, but to witness their school transform. Through Project Shiksha, in collaboration with D'Decor Exports Pvt. Ltd., we formally handed over a newly installed Handwash Station, Paver Block Work, freshly painted school walls, and brand-new School Bags and PT Dresses.

What made this day truly special wasn't just the infrastructure — it was the smiles of students, the pride of teachers, the presence of parents, and the support of the local Sarpanch, all gathered as one community.

A heartfelt thank you to the Headmaster, the entire teaching staff, the Sarpanch, and every parent who made this program a success. And to our partners at D'Decor Exports — your commitment to children's futures is changing lives.

💙 What makes a truly great nurse? Knowledge, yes — but also empathy, resilience, and the strength to lead when things get hard.

Ekam Foundation Mumbai recently conducted a one-day mentoring session for 106 nursing students and 8 faculty members of Pratibha College of Nursing. Together, we explored the human side of healthcare — emotional intelligence, advanced communication, conflict resolution, and how to stay grounded even in the most challenging environments.

These young nurses are the future caregivers of our families and communities. Investing in their growth — beyond clinical skills — is one of the most meaningful things we can do. 🩺

Today, Z.P. School, CIDCO Colony looks like a completely different place. ✨

Under our Project Shiksha initiative — made possible by the incredible generosity of D'Decor Exports Pvt Ltd and Sansaar — this school received a full transformation: safety grills, a repaired roof, freshly painted walls, a revamped kitchen, clean toilets, new paver blocks, a safety tank, a flag platform, and a brand-new handwash station for the kids.

We're grateful to Chief Guest Mr. Sunil Jadhav (MIDC PI), Gram Panchayat officials, and the entire D'Decor team for being part of this journey.
