SPIL Mumbai successfully conducted the 15th Government Law College International Law Summit, MMXXV, on the 8th Day of March 2025.

The Opening Ceremony commenced with the ‘Lighting of the Lamp’ by our esteemed guest —Ms. Rujuta Bankar, Assistant Director, Regional Directorate (Western Region), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India; Prof. Rooprekha Chhabria, Professor, Government Law College, Mumbai; and Mr. Rohit Bokil, Assistant Professor, Government Law College, Mumbai.

We were honoured to have Ms. Rujuta Bankar deliver the Keynote Address on “International Environmental Law and Corporate Governance,” setting the tone for the Summit.

We are pleased to inform that Students for the Promotion of International Law (SPIL), Mumbai successfully conducted the Final Level of the Judgment Deliberation Competition (JDC), MMXXV, on the 8th Day of March 2025, as part of the 15th Government Law College International Law Summit MMXXV.

We were privileged to have Mr. Pradeep Sancheti – Senior Counsel, Hon'ble Bombay High Court, Ms. Gayatri Singh – Senior Counsel, Hon'ble Bombay High Court, and Mr. Kishu Daswani – Professor, Government Law College, Mumbai presiding as the Marking Judges for the Final Level of the JDC MMXXV.

The Judgment Deliberation Competition (JDC) is an innovative event conceptualised within the halls of Government Law College, Mumbai. This unique Competition is exclusive to SPIL, Mumbai, and is solely organised by SPIL, Mumbai. We are pleased to announce that as part of the 15th Government Law College International Law Summit, MMXXV, held on the 8th Day of March 2025, Students for the Promotion of International Law, Mumbai, officially launched Volume V of the GLC-SPIL International Law Journal, 2025.

The unveiling took place in the auspicious presence of Mr. Aditya Raut, Associate Partner, Desai Desai Carrimjee & Mulla; Mr. Kishu Daswani, Professor, Government Law College, Mumbai; and Ms. Nidhi Jamwal, Independent Journalist.

This Volume received numerous submissions, of which, following a rigorous peer-review process, select manuscripts were accepted for publication. The published manuscripts offer a diverse and in-depth analysis of contemporary issues under the theme of International Environmental Law.

We extend our sincere appreciation to Dr. Smt. Asmita Adwait Vaidya, Editor-in-Chief and Principal of GLC, Mumbai; the esteemed members of the Editorial Board—Dr. Monish Tourangbam, Prof. Manimuthu Gandhi, and Dr. Vinai Kumar Singh.

We are pleased to inform you that as part of the 15th Government Law College International Law Summit, MMXXV, held on 8th Day of March 2025, SPIL Mumbai organised a Panel Discussion on “Redefining the Scope of the ICC’s Jurisdiction: Recognition of Ecocide as the Fifth International Crime.”

We were honoured to have Mr. Rohit Bokil, Assistant Professor, Government Law College, Mumbai, as the Moderator, along with distinguished Panellists—Mr. Aditya Raut, Associate Partner, Desai Desai Carrimjee & Mulla; Ms. Jojo Mehta, Co-Founder & CEO, Stop Ecocide International; Mr. Kishu Daswani, Professor, Government Law College, Mumbai; and Ms. Nidhi Jamwal, Independent Journalist.

The Panellists engaged in a thought-provoking discussion on the necessity of recognising ecocide as an international crime, addressing the legal, political, and ethical challenges surrounding its inclusion within the ICC’s framework. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, providing the audience with an opportunity to contribute to the discourse.

We are privileged to have the esteemed presence of Ms. Rujuta Bankar, Assistant Director, Regional Directorate (Western Region), Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, as a Keynote Speaker at the 15th Government Law College International Law Summit 2025, scheduled on 8th March 2025 at 8:00 AM IST.

Ms. Bankar qualified the UPSC Civil Services Exam in 2019 (AIR 325) and joined the Indian Corporate Law Service. She holds an LLM in Constitutional Law and a Master’s in Political Science and International Relations.
