Mumbai Mobile Creches Mumbai Mobile Creches (MMC) runs comprehensive daycare and education programmes for children living on construction sites.

Our vision is simple- that all children can enjoy a happy, healthy, and safe childhood. We work with migrant children and families because they are among the most vulnerable of the urban poor. They live in small shanties on the construction sites, often without access to electricity or running water. Not only are migrant construction workers and their children constantly at risk for disease, injury and malnourishment, they also are largely neglected in terms of government services and benefits. Marginalized from formal schooling options, children are often left on their own on the dangerous construction site while their parents work. MMC believes that stimulating care, development and education is every child’s inalienable right, and provides the most powerful and profound tool to escape the cycle of poverty. The MMC programme is a proactive poverty alleviation strategy focused on championing the rights of the child on the construction site. Through comprehensive and holistic day care centres, MMC addresses the educational, health, and nutritional needs of children on construction sites. Dedicated, experienced staff members have created unique curricula to meet the specific needs of children of migrant labourers, providing a stimulating educational environment in which they can learn and grow. In addition to quality educational programming, each centre provides its children with three nutritious meals a day, vitamin supplements, immunizations, and weekly health check-ups. Furthermore, we run a comprehensive teacher training programme to improve childcare capacities throughout the city and an advocacy programme to champion the rights of migrant families. To date, MMC has reached over 150,000 children through over 240 centres. We have seen much success with our programmes, demonstrably improving the health status of children on construction sites and helping children gain the skills necessary to develop, grow, and successfully integrate into municipal schools.

Growing Skills. Building Confidence. Inspiring Change.

On August 24, 2026, 26 trainees from the new batch of Mumbai Mobile Creches’ Bal Palika Teacher Training Programme came together for a Life Skills Workshop designed to help them learn, reflect, connect and grow.

Through interactive activities such as Pinjara Band, Exchange, Skills & Strengths, and Sahara, the trainees explored communication, teamwork, time management, self-management, leadership, initiative, confidence and positive thinking.

The workshop was not just about learning new skills. It was about discovering personal strengths, stepping outside comfort zones, supporting one another and understanding how working together can make a difference. The energy and enthusiasm of the group made the sessions lively and meaningful.

For us at Mumbai Mobile Creches, preparing future educators means nurturing more than teaching skills. It means helping them develop the confidence, empathy, resilience and self-awareness they need to create safe, caring and enriching spaces for young children.

A new batch, a new journey—and many opportunities to learn, grow and inspire.

Celebrating Freedom, Unity & the Spirit of India! 

On 15th August, our centres came alive with the colours and spirit of India’s 80th Independence Day.

Our children and teachers celebrated with skits, dance, music, speeches and patriotic performances. Beyond the celebration, the day gave children a chance to express themselves, build confidence, work together and feel a strong sense of belonging.

We were very happy to have Mr. Kasturi Soundararajan, Chief – Treasury & Investor Relations, Tata Power, join the celebration at our B.G. Wadala Centre. His presence made the occasion even more special as our children proudly shared their performances.

When Teachers Explore, Children Learn Differently!

At Mumbai Mobile Creches, we believe that learning never stops—not for children, and not for teachers.

On 27th July, 26 trainees from our Wadala and Mansarovar Centres, along with 4 trainers, visited the Nehru Science Centre, Worli, for a day of exploration and hands-on learning.

Through interactive exhibits and science galleries, they discovered how simple scientific concepts can come alive for young children through observation, play, exploration and experimentation.

The experience sparked curiosity, creativity and critical thinking—and inspired our future educators to bring more simple, age-appropriate science activities into their classrooms.

Because when teachers keep learning, children discover new ways to learn too.

Bringing Stories to Life, One Teacher at a Time!

A good story can spark a child’s imagination, build confidence and make learning come alive.

On 22nd July 2026, 31 trainees from our Bal Palika Teacher (BPT) Training Programme at Wadala and Mansarovar Centres came together for an engaging storytelling workshop led by Ms. Sarika Athalye.

Through voice, expressions, movement and hands-on practice, our trainees discovered how simple storytelling can turn everyday learning into moments of joy, curiosity and wonder for children.

At Mumbai Mobile Creches, we believe that - "when we strengthen our teachers, we strengthen the foundation of every child’s learning journey".

Mumbai Mobile Creches recently conducted a 15-day Bal Vikas Sahyog Training for Children of the World (India) Trust (CWIT), equipping caregivers with practical knowledge and skills in early childhood development, child health, nutrition, responsive caregiving, safety, and holistic childcare practices.

At Mumbai Mobile Creches, we believe that children are not just learners of today, but changemakers of tomorrow. Through our Shramdaan Programme, children learn that even small actions create meaningful change while developing literacy, responsible mobile usage, teamwork, compassion, cleanliness, and social responsibility.

A Journey of Courage, Resilience, and Transformation — Bal Palika Teacher (BPT) Training Programme | Academic Batch 2024–2025
A year ago, many of these women had never imagined standing confidently on a stage as graduates. The Valedictory Programme for the 2024–2025 academic batch marked a deeply moving milestone filled with pride, gratitude, and celebration.

When the journey began, 22 women stepped forward with hope and aspiration. For many, this was not just a training programme—it was the beginning of a new world of learning, confidence, and opportunity. The path, however, was not easy. Balancing family responsibilities, navigating social barriers, and overcoming personal struggles demanded immense strength and perseverance.

Yet, 16 determined women stayed the course. With courage in their hearts and determination in their minds, they continued to show up, learn, grow, and believe in themselves.

Each class attended, each lesson learned, and each challenge overcome became a stepping stone toward transformation. Today, these women stand tall—not just as trainees who completed a course, but as confident and empowered women ready to stand on their own feet. Equipped with new skills, renewed confidence, and a strong sense of purpose, they are prepared to step forward and create meaningful change in their lives and in the communities they serve.

Many trainees expressed heartfelt gratitude for the opportunity, sharing that the programme gave them not only knowledge and skills but also the confidence to believe in themselves and dream bigger for their futures.

Mumbai Mobile Creches proudly celebrates their inspiring journey. Their success is not only a personal achievement but also a powerful reminder of what determination, opportunity, and support can make possible.

These women have truly passed out with flying colours—and their journey has only just begun.

Mumbai Mobile Creches hosted two magical days of its Annual Puppet Exhibition on January 16–17, 2026, themed “Hear My Voice, See My World – Through Puppets and Stories!” (सुनो मेरी आवाज़, देखो मेरी दुनिया – कहानियों और कठपुतलियों के संग)

The exhibition was a vibrant celebration of children’s creativity, confidence, and storytelling skills — where little hands create BIG stories! Puppets crafted from recycled materials by our little ones stole the spotlight, showcasing imagination and talent that goes beyond words.

A delightful puppet performance by teachers and children added sparkle to the event, highlighting the joy of learning through art.

The exhibition was inaugurated by our special guest Ms. Shobha Shelar, District Women & Child Development Officer, along with our Director Mrs. Nalini Chhugani.

We were honored to welcome over 60 guests from corporates, organizations, and colleges. Your support and encouragement make events like these possible, reinforcing our belief that creative platforms empower children, amplify their voices, and drive our mission forward.

Our 11th Puppet Week – Hear My Voice, See My World – Through Puppets & Stories! (सुनो मेरी आवाज़, देखो मेरी दुनिया — कहानियों और कठपुतलियों के संग) showcased the power of puppet storytelling, engaging guests and communities alike.
From joyful Prabhat Pheris to lively puppet shows and colourful exhibitions, our centres resonated with children’s voices, stories, and creativity. Every puppet and every narrative was thoughtfully created by the children themselves, with gentle guidance from our teachers.

Through this process, children discovered a safe and joyful space to express their ideas, emotions, and lived experiences. What unfolded this week was more than an activity. It became a powerful space for learning, self-expression, confidence-building, and imagination.

None of this would be possible without the continued support of our donors and partners. We are deeply grateful to them for enabling meaningful, enriching experiences for children every day.
