⚓️ SALUTE TO THE SEA | A BAYVIEW CARES EXPERIENCE 🇮🇳
As India celebrates 79 years of Independence, Rotary Club of Bombay Bayview had the privilege of bringing its members closer to those who protect our freedom — the brave men and women of the Indian Navy.
On 8th August, 50 RCBB members visited Headquarters Western Naval Command and the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai, for an extraordinary morning of insight, interaction and inspiration.
We began with a comprehensive briefing on the role, responsibilities and capabilities of the Western Naval Command, gaining a deeper appreciation of the vigilance and preparedness that safeguard our western coastline and maritime interests.
We were privileged to hear firsthand from Lt Cdr Dilna K, who shared her inspiring experience of Navika Sagar Parikrama II — the historic circumnavigation of the globe aboard INSV Tarini. Her story of courage, endurance and adventure at sea left us deeply inspired.
The experience continued aboard INS Chennai, an indigenously built frontline guided-missile destroyer of the Indian Navy. Stepping aboard and witnessing its sophisticated capabilities and the remarkable scale of India’s maritime shipbuilding was a powerful reminder of the achievements of Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India.
But beyond the ship, the technology and the impressive capabilities, what stayed with us most was the discipline, dedication and quiet courage of the people who serve at sea.
Our interaction with the senior leadership of the Western Naval Command, the officers and sailors aboard INS Chennai, and the opportunity to stand alongside them for our National Anthem left us with an overwhelming sense of pride, gratitude and patriotism.
Salute to the Sea was more than an experience.
It was a reminder that the freedom we celebrate is protected every day by those who stand watch over our seas.
