Meet Siya - with her Mum, Gen. Gen has provided Siya with a creative opportunity using different coloured paints and a blank canvas. Siya is engaging in meaningful and creative play while at the same time spontaneously following the rules of painting - paint on your brush, clean your brush ready for the next colour. Gen is following Siya’s lead by reflecting her interest and actions in a language commentary, ’Siya’s painting the lamp with orange colour'. Siya is requesting and choosing colours when given a choice. Gen also comments on what the cat is doing, 'Adele is jumping inside the lamp’. When Siya says ‘Adele, you get, let me!’, Gen models a complete form of Siya’s intended utterance, ‘Adele, let Siya paint, Adele’. Gen has achieved her goals of 'following Siya’s lead’ and ‘talking about what Siya is interested in’. Siya and Gen - SuperStars
