SPARSH - Centre for Participatory Learning was established formally in 2007 under the The Societies Registration Act, 1860 and the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950. It is an outcome of various training and capacity building initiatives taken by UNICEF in Maharashtra since 1999 that resulted in the creation of network of trainers across 35 districts. SPARSH under the initiative and support of UNICEF a

nd Maharashtra Government has been undertaking activities in the process of local decentralisation across 25 districts in Maharashtra. The process has led to the formalising of SPARSH as an organisation that lays emphasis on education, health, women empowerment, microfinance and sustainable development. We believing in furthering democratic decentralisation through integrated local development by developing capacities and capabilities of existing human resource, and initiating, strengthening networks and forming alliances between various forms of people’s initiatives
