Safety Studio starts with girls fixing what's unsafe on their own streets, in their schools, in their villages and neighbourhoods.
Over the last ten years, Aangan has seen girls do this in their own unique and creative ways, across states and across issues. So what's the common factor? Friends stand by each other. They support each other and act together. Friendship becomes safety.

20 friends in one studio. Over a 1000 studios. 26,000+ girls who notice risk first, stop child marriages, keep classmates in school, break silence around violence, and get their roads patrolled.

Today, on Friendship Day, that story comes together in two minutes. A girl notices her friend is missing. She goes looking. That's where Safety Studio begins, and where it's always lived: friendship is safety.

Something BIG is coming, and we cannot wait to share it any longer! 📣

We are officially launching Safety Studio, Aangan's most ambitious project yet. It reaches 26,000+ girls across the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.

Safety Studio is built on real Risk Calendar data, straight from the girls themselves. That means every strategy, every solution, every message comes from them. It is their voices, their stories, their safety solutions, leading the way!

And who better to introduce this than the girls designing it? This Get Ready With Us video, starring our Safety Studio designers, is just the trailer! This is a sneak peek into their energy, their confidence, and their power. This is only the beginning.

The Suraksha Sakhi program’s partnership with Aangan has come to a close, and we celebrated the journey with our dedicated partners over the years!

The event was attended by 330+ women, as well as representatives from the police, Mahila Salah Suraksha Kendra, and school principals and teachers. When asked about what safety means for girls and women, they shared a vision of a world where they can express their thoughts freely, without hesitation, and travel anywhere with confidence. A world where they do not feel “asahya” (oppressed or suffocated), and are free from the fear of violence.

Although Aangan’s journey in the program has concluded, the Suraksha Sakhis and the police are dedicated to continuing their collaboration to ensure the safety of girls and women.

We’re excited to announce that Chaitali Sheth, our Chief Operating Officer (COO) at Aangan, has been selected as one of 14 social impact leaders in the inaugural Motwani Jadeja Impact Fellowship! She is going to be one of the leaders representing India’s impact sector at a global forum during the UN General Assembly in New York.

Chaitali is an invaluable asset to our team, deeply committed to Aangan's mission of keeping children safe since 2013. She expertly manages programmatic and operational functions across teams and states, ensuring our strategic goals are met. She also co-leads fundraising, advocacy, and communication efforts with government, funders, and civil society organisations. Chaitali's contribution is immense and unwavering, and we are thrilled for her to receive this recognition as she takes Aangan's work to new heights!

We recently attended Studio Subu's , where we explored effective for the sector. The conference was a fantastic chance for us to sharpen our skills— from building robust annual communication strategies to fine-tuning our design eye and crafting compelling pitches.

We also loved connecting with other teams across the development sector and gaining fresh perspectives on amplifying our child protection work. Here’s to new learnings and broader impacts!
