Since it's inception in 2004, Jana Raksh*ta is grateful to have been given the opportunity to help more than 1200 lives and continues to do so. Our trustees are personally involved with each one of our cases. We visit even one of the patients and their families in their homes to assess their status and understand their needs and requirements. Every one of the patients we work with becomes part of
the Jana Raksh*ta family and we care for them, like we would our own. CANCER
The major activity of Jana Raksh*ta has been the support and assistance to poor Cancer patients, especially children. We have been involved in providing funds for the treatment, psychological counseling, interaction/ coordination with doctors, specialists and administrators for treatment of economically disadvantaged persons. We interact with a panel of specialists in Hinduja as well as Tata Memorial hospitals, Mumbai to ensure that the funds are utilized effectively and correctly. In such medical cases, it is important that decisions are made and acted upon swiftly and this precisely has been our hallmark. It is our desire to expand and provide systematic assistance to poor cancer patients that covers the entire gamut of treatment including counseling, rehabilitation etc., to a larger number of patients and keep on expanding in the process. We also intend to spread cancer awareness especially among the disadvantaged section of our society so that cancer causing habits canbe discarded, cancer detected early to enable effective cure/ treatment. It has been our endeavour to enlist the support of cured cancer patients wherever we could. We realize that the task is humongous and what is required is willing hands and minds and sure enough, lots of funds. We are also involved in any medical case that requires assistance and support of the kind that WE deliver. EDUCATION
Jana Raksh*ta also works towards education for the underprivileged. We work with solitary cases as well as with schools, focussing mainly on trying to scale up schools lacking appropriate facilities - educational, administrative and infrastructural needs. Jana Raksh*ta has worked towards rebuilding 2 Dalit schools during the Tsunami in 2004. Jana Raksh*ta has worked towards building infrastructure of an Adivasi School in Wada, Maharashtra.
