Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation (PDAF)
PDAF is a public charity trust formed for the benefit of artists in memory of Prafulla Dahanukar, a renowned woman artist. The Chairperson of the trust is Dr. Sarayu Doshi, Art Historian and a close friend of Prafulla for over 60 years. ening to Prafulla and painted in Prafulla’s studio for the first 20 years of his career. PDAF will be substantially funded by the sale of Prafulla’s works and artworks given by the top artists and their collectors from all parts of India. As you can see from this catalogue, the list of benefactors contains most of the scintillating names of the Art World. The Gallery Wing of the Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai will host the first show of PDAF from the 22nd July to 3rd August, with a Preview for the ardent collectors and connoisseurs of art on the 21st July 2014. Thus the PDAF will truly be the fund created by the artists for the artists. Chandra Sachdev will be the co-host of the show with Dr. Sarayu Doshi and Shri Dilip Dahanukar. The shows of PDAF will be curated by Mr. Arunov Nicholai Sachdev. PDAF in collaboration with Gallery 7 of Mumbai will launch one emerging artist every year. The selection process will involve calling for entries from all over the country, and exhibiting the selected 50 paintings in Gallery 7. The Judges will then select one winner from each zone: North, East, West, South, North East and Central. From the interviews of these 6 winners, 2 artists will be shortlisted by the Judges. The works of these 2 artists will be shown on the internet and the choice of the nerizens will be final to declare “The PDAF Emerging Artist of the Year.”
There will then be a solo exhibition of paintings of the Emerging Artist in Gallery 7 with PDAF funding the expenses connected with the show.
