The Rotary Club of Bombay is one of the pioneers in India of the rotary movement, devoted to the ideal of Fellowship through service. The Club meets every Tuesday at 1.15 p.m. at the Taj Mahal Hotel, the very place where the founders had their first get-together. Most clubs in Dist 3140 can trace their roots to the Rotary Club of Bombay. The membership of the Club has grown from 38 in 1929 to arou

nd 320 today. The unique single classification concept of Rotary allows the Rotary Club of Bombay a membership compromising a high performance cross-section of Bombay’s successful business and professional men and women, all accomplishers in their own field ranging from doctors to architects, legal luminaries to bankers, entrepreneurs to educationalists and merchandisers to communicators. The Club offers a stimulating fellowship based on a fascinating diversity of interests in business, arts, sciences and the professional expertise of its members. This Club has inspired the incorporation of 26 Interact clubs, with about 750 school children as members, and 6 Rotaract clubs with a membership of about 200 college students. We are delighted to share the achievement of students from ITI Elphinstone at the Mumbai District Level ITI Science Exhibition, where they secured third place in both the technical and non technical categories. Their performance reflects strong innovation, practical thinking and the ability to apply learning to real world challenges.

In the technical category, the IoT based Wire Breakdown Detection System demonstrated a smart solution to improve fault detection and response in power distribution networks. In the non technical category, the Server Room Temperature Monitoring System showcased how automated monitoring and control can enhance efficiency reliability and infrastructure safety. These outcomes reaffirm our commitment to nurturing skill based learning, innovation and confidence through hands on education that prepares students for future ready roles.

We were proud to inaugurate the IT Innovation Lab at ITI Elphinstone, a meaningful step toward strengthening vocational education and future-ready skills.

Designed as a hands-on Centre of Excellence, the lab enables students to engage with emerging technologies such as AIoT, robotics, automation, smart energy systems, and digital manufacturing, turning classroom learning into real-world application.

Inaugurated by Rtn. Yogesh Mahansaria, with the support of Manisha Varma and guided by Rotary leadership and government collaboration, this initiative reflects the Rotary Club of Bombay’s commitment to building confidence, capability, and dignity through skill-based education.

Strengthening holistic child development through play, the Rotary Club of Bombay, in partnership with The Opentree Foundation, continues to create nurturing learning environments for children in Palghar. Through the Life Skills Play Programme, children learn teamwork problem solving emotional regulation and confidence using structured play based activities aligned with the academic curriculum.

With focused capacity building teacher training and sustained programme delivery, the initiative currently reaches 1,200 children at Shri S T Kadam Primary Secondary and Junior College. Strengthening international Rotary fellowship, Rtn Peter Born visited Rotary Clubs in Vienna, Austria, to share the work vision and service initiatives of the Rotary Club of Bombay. Promoting digital safety and responsible online behaviour, a Cyber Bullying Awareness workshop was conducted for the Interact Club New Bharda of the Rotary Club of Bombay by Brush of Hope in collaboration with the Matterly Foundation. The session focused on helping students understand the risks and emotional impact of cyber bullying while encouraging mindful and empathetic use of digital platforms.

Through interactive discussions real life examples and open conversations, students learnt how to identify report and respond to cyber bullying while supporting peers facing online harassment. The initiative reflected a shared commitment to nurturing confident informed and compassionate young individuals in an increasingly digital world.
