We're thrilled to share a momentous milestone in our journey! ๐Ÿš€ This year, we had the incredible opportunity to present our work on a global platform at APIMONDIA 2023, the global gathering of all things bees and beekeeping in Santiago,Chile. ๐Ÿ

We were selected to present our work at two technical sessions - one on how beekeeping with indigenous bees can break the cycle of poverty for smallholders and another on our strategy and experiences in involving more women in beekeeping. ๐ŸŒŽ๐Ÿ

Dhanshree Chavan did a great job of presenting our work to a packed audience. This platform allowed us to share our efforts on sustainable beekeeping, conservation, and the empowerment of local communities. ๐Ÿฏ๐Ÿ’ช The connections we made and the knowledge we gained have opened doors to new horizons and possibilities.

We're deeply grateful for this incredible opportunity, and we couldn't have done it without the unwavering support of our amazing team and partners. A special shout out to Dasra Rebuild Fund which enabled our participation!๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿค

As we reflect on this journey, we're more determined than ever to reach new heights and continue making a positive change in the world of beekeeping and beyond. Stay tuned for exciting updates and innovations on the horizon!

Thank you for being a part of our journey. Together, we'll create a brighter, more sustainable future for our beloved bees and our planet. ๐Ÿ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’š

Amarlal Bharti, belongs to Junnardeo Block, Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh. Beekeeping training has not only helped him move away from unsustainable honey-hunting practices but also made him conscious about protecting bees and their habitat. Like many others in his village, he too was not aware of the role bees play in crop pollination and maintaining biodiversity. Amarlal was able to take up training and currently has two filled bee boxes on his farm, due to which he has seen around a 40% increase in Chickpea production and a 60% increase in Pea production.

This event brought together both experts and those who work with communities enthusiasts dedicated to protecting our native pollinators.

Key takeaways from the symposium:
- Manju Vasudevan highlighted the importance of farmer voices and indigenous knowledge in sustainable beekeeping, showcasing inspiring examples from across the country.
- Mahendra bhai and Manilal bhai from our Gujarat team shared valuable insights about our work in indigenous bee conservation and its positive impact on marginalized communities, bridging the gap between theory and practice.
- Dr Palatty Sinu shed light on the diversity of bees and emphasized the need to conserve different types of bees, including the fascinating Leafcutter bees. It's not just flowers but also leaves that play a crucial role in pollinator conservation. - Dr Shiny Rehel from Keystone Foundation shared her expertise on Bees of the Nilgiri hills, discussing methodologies for studying bee flora and diversity. She also addressed the challenges faced in their conservation.

Together, we've taken a step forward in preserving our precious pollinators and ensuring a sustainable future for our ecosystems. Here's to more such conversations ๐Ÿ™Œโœจ
