📚Child Learning Centres (CLCs) play an important role in providing supplementary educational support to children in rural areas. At present, 15 CLCs are operational across 11 villages under Educo-Matruschaya social welfare society, project in Palghar, Maharashtra, serving as vital hubs for learning and skill development. The positive impact of the centres can be seen in children’s improved academic performance, increased confidence, and active participation in learning.

✍A review meeting cm training for CLC teachers was organised on 19th September 2025, attended by 14 CLC teachers, along with the Specialist and Facilitators of Primary Education. Educo with partner NGO People's Rural Education Movement (PREM) has been working in the indigenous villages of Kandhamal, since 2021. With a vision to strengthen community systems to safeguard children and enable their access to their developmental, we work with a range of institutions to create a holistic and safe environment for children.

We have been working with 18 schools in the region where we are working on strengthening infrastructure and enhance learning experiences of children. By enabling children's access to sports and games, we have been ensuring that they get opportunities for mental and physical growth. Similarly, we have provided books for libraries in these schools to ensure that children develop reading and comprehension along with creative learning.
We continue working with teachers and government departments to ensure that these developments are carried on and taken to a greater number of children.

**Visit to the Child Welfare Committee (CWC)**

Last month, 8 members from Educo-MSSWS project in Palghar, Maharashtra visited the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC) office in Palghar.
The visit was an important opportunity for the team to explore synergies and understand the systems in place for child protection. The CWC Chairperson and members welcomed the team warmly and engaged in a detailed discussion regarding identification of vulnerable children and development of Individual Care Plans for each child. They also shared about various government welfare schemes for orphaned children and those living with single parents. With updated information on the kind of support available for children from such systems, and requirements to access these schemes, our team came back with knowledge which will help in our everyday work with vulnerable children.

The team also had a meaningful meeting with Mr. Vinod Rathore, the District Child Protection Officer (DCPO) of Palghar district. Mr. Vibin Varghese, Sr. Shanti Pushpa, and Mr. Prakash Bhavar, from Educo-MSSWS team presented about our work to Mr. Rathore and were appreciated and assured by him for his support in the work.

August 29, the birthday of Major Dhyan Chand, the wizard of hockey, is observed as the National Sports Day in India. Educo with its partner NGOs emphasises on the importance of sports and physical activities for holistic growth of children. And thus, celebration of the National Sports Day is a significant day for our children.

This year, sports activities were organised in all project locations. In Pune, Educo with partner Vipla Foundation organised sports activities for children in schools where we work. Due to Ganesh Chaturthi as well as weather instability, the same were organised at small scale, but ensuring that children had fun as well as learnt about the significance of the day.

Along with games like lemon and spoon race, running competition etc., art activities were also organised in which students depicted creatively, what sports meant for them. We continue to incorporate sports and physical activities as a significant part of children's learning and development.
