ಇವು ನಾಲ್ಕು ಬಿಲ್ಲವರ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಗಳು
ಜನರ ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಬಡತನ, ಮೇಲ್ವರ್ಗ ಮತ್ತು ಕೆಳವರ್ಗದ ಅಸಮಾನತೆಗಳು, ಪೂಜಾ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಿಗೆ ಪ್ರವೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ತಾರತಮ್ಯ, ಮಹಿಳೆಯರಿಗೆ ಅನ್ಯಾಯ ಇತ್ಯಾದಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಿರ್ಮೂಲನೆ ಮಾಡಲು ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಶ್ರೀ ನಾರಾಯಣ ಗುರುಗಳು ತಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನದುದ್ದಕ್ಕೂ ಹೋರಾಡಿದ ಘಟನೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಂಡಿವೆ. ಗುರು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಬೋಧನೆಯ ಪ್ರತಿಷ್ಠಿತ ಬಿಲ್ಲವರ ಸಂಘ, ಮುಂಬೈಬ್ 1932 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಅಸ್ತಿತ್ವಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಿತು, ಇದನ್ನು ದಿವಂಗತ ಶ್ರೀ ಎಂ. ಅಪ್ಪಣ್ಣ ನೇತೃತ್ವ ವಹಿಸಿದ್ದರು. ಅಂತಹ ವಿಷಯಗಳ ನಿರ್ಮೂಲನೆಗಾಗಿ ಅವರು "ಸಂಘಟನೆಯಿಂದ ಬಲಯುತರಾಗಿರಿ"' ಎಂಬ ತತ್ವಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದಿಂದ ಪ್ರೇರಿತರಾಗಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ದಿವಂಗತ ಶ್ರೀ ಎಂ ಅಪ್ಪಣ್ಣ ಅವರು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡ ಈ ದಿಟ್ಟ ಹೆಜ್ಜೆಗಳು, ಇಂದು ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಬಿಲ್ಲವರು *ಮುಂಬೈಯ ಬಿಲ್ಲವರ ಸಂಘದ* ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೆಮ್ಮೆಪಡುತ್ತೇವೆ.

*ಭಾರತ್ ಬ್ಯಾಂಕ್* ನ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ, *ಬಿಲ್ಲವರ ಭವನ*ದ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ, *ಪಡುಬೆಳ್ಳೆಯ ಕನ್ನಡ ಮತ್ತು ಇಂಗ್ಲಿಷ್ ಮಾಧ್ಯಮ ಶಾಲೆಯ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ* ಮತ್ತು ಸಾಂತಾಕ್ರೂಜ್‌ನಲ್ಲಿ *ಶ್ರೀ ಗುರುನಾರಾಯಣ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಪ್ರೌಢಶಾಲೆಯ ಸ್ಥಾಪನೆ*, *ಮುಂಬಯಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಅದರ ಪರಿಸರದಲ್ಲಿ 22 ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಕಚೇರಿಗಳ ರಚನೆ* ಮುಂತಾದ ಅನೇಕ ಮೈಲಿಗಲ್ಲುಗಳು *ಮಾಜಿ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ದಿವಂಗತ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯ ಸುವರ್ಣರು ಮತ್ತು ಇತರ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರು ಮತ್ತು ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥಾಪಕ ಸಮಿತಿ* ಯವರ ದೂರದೃಷ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದು, ಅವರು ಕಾಲಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸಂಘದ ಆಡಳಿತವನ್ನು ವಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಬಿಲ್ಲವರು ಮತ್ತು ಹಿತೈಷಿಗಳ ಬೆಂಬಲದಿಂದ ಇದು ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಯಿತು.

ಶ್ರೀ ಹರೀಶ್ ಜಿ ಅಮೀನ್ ರವರು 5 ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಹಿಂದೆ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷ ಸ್ಥಾನವನ್ನು ವಹಿಸಿಕೊಂಡರು. ಅವರು ನೀಡಿದ ಕೊಡುಗೆಗಳನ್ನು ಗಣನೆಗೆ ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು, ತಮ್ಮ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಸದಸ್ಯರಿಂದ ಮತ್ತೆ ಅಧ್ಯಕ್ಷರಾಗಿ ಆಯ್ಕೆಯಾದರು. ಅವರ ನಾಯಕತ್ವದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಂಬೈನ ಬಿಲ್ಲವರ ಸಂಘವು ಬಿಲ್ಲವ ಸಮುದಾಯ ಭವನ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣ, ಜೋಗೇಶ್ವರಿ ಮತ್ತು ಕಲ್ಯಾಣ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಕಚೇರಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಆವರಣ ಖರೀದಿ, ಪಡುಬೆಳ್ಳೆ ಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನು ಅಂತರರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ಗುಣಮಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಏರಿಸುವುದು, ಬಿಲ್ಲವರ ಭವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೌರಶಕ್ತಿ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯ ಅಳವಡಿಕೆ, ಪಡುಬೆಳ್ಳೆ ಶಾಲೆಯ ವಿದ್ಯಾರ್ಥಿಗಳಿಗೆ ಮಧ್ಯಾಹ್ನದ ಊಟ, ಶಿಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಉತ್ತಮ ಸಾಧನೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ಶೈಕ್ಷಣಿಕ ನೆರವು ಆಯೋಜಿಸುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ವಿತರಿಸುವುದು, ಕ್ರೀಡೆ, ವಿದ್ಯೆ, ಕಲೆ, ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ, ಜನಪದ ಸಾಹಿತ್ಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿನ ಪ್ರತಿಭಾವಂತರನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಿ ಪುರಸ್ಕರಿಸುವುದು, ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ನೆರವು ನೀಡುವುದು, ವಿಧವಾ ಪಿಂಚಣಿ ಮೊತ್ತವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸುವುದು, *ಕಾಂತಾಬಾರೆ-ಬೂದಬಾರೆ (ಒಳಾಂಗಣ) ಕ್ರೀಡೋತ್ಸವ, *ಕೋಟಿ ಚೆನ್ನಯ (ಹೊರಾಂಗಣ) ಕ್ರೀಡೋತ್ಸವ*, *ಕ್ರಿಕೆಟ್ ಪಂದ್ಯಾವಳಿ*, *ಯಕ್ಷಗಾನ ಸಪ್ತಾಹ- ಅಷ್ಟಕ, ನವಕ, ದಶಕಗಳ ಆಯೋಜನೆ*, *ಬಿಲ್ಲವ ಭವನದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೌರ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಅಳವಡಿಸಿ ವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ವೆಚ್ಚದಲ್ಲಿ ಉಳಿತಾಯ*, *ಬಿಲ್ಲವ ಭವನ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮುದಾಯ ಭವನ ಕಟ್ಟಡದ ಆಸ್ತಿ ದಾಖಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುವ ಹಲವು ಲೋಪದೋಶಗಳನ್ನು ನಿವಾರಿಸುವುದು ಮುಂತಾದ ಹಲವು ಮೈಲಿಗಲ್ಲುಗಳನ್ನು ಸಾಧಿಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಸಫಲ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನ‌ ಮಾಡಿದೆ.

ಈಗ ಮುಂಬೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ತಮ್ಮದೇ ಆದ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣ ಸಂಸ್ಥೆಯೊಂದರ ಸ್ಥಾಪಣೆಯ ಬೃಹತ್ ಯೋಜನೆಗೆ ಕೈ ಹಾಕಿದ್ದು ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೇಕಾದ ಜಾಗ ಮತ್ತು ಬಂಡವಾಳದ ವ್ಯವಸ್ಥೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ತೊಡಗಿದೆ. ಮಲಾಡ್, ವಸೈ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಕಚೇರಿಗಳ ಪುನರಾಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ, ನಲ್ಲಸೋಪಾರ-ವಿರಾರ್ ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಸಮಿತಿಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಆವರಣಗಳನ್ನು ಸ್ವಾಧೀನಪಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು, ಪಡುಬೆಳ್ಳೆ ಶಾಲೆಗೆ 2 ಹೊಸ ಬಸ್ಗಳ ಖರೀದಿ, ಬಿಲ್ಲವ ಭವನದ ಸಭಾಗ್ರಹವನ್ನು ದುರಸ್ತಿಗೋಳಪಡಿಸಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಆದಾಯವನ್ನು ಗಳಿಸುವುದು, ಸಮುದಾಯ ಭವನದ ಸಭಾಗ್ರಹದ‌ ಸದುಯೋಗಪಡಿಸಿ ಆದಾಯ ವರ್ಧಿಸುವ ದೀರ್ಘ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಕೋನವನ್ನು ಅವರು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಕೊನೆಯದಾಗಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಸದಸ್ಯರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸೌಹಾರ್ದಯುತ ಸಂಬಂಧವನ್ನು ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಳ್ಳುವುದು ಮತ್ತು ಅವರ ಉನ್ನತಿಗಾಗಿ ಶ್ರಮಿಸುವುದು.

ಬ್ರಹ್ಮಶ್ರೀ ನಾರಾಯಣ ಗುರುಗಳ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಕನಸುಗಳು ಸಮುದಾಯದ ಒಳಿತಿಗಾಗಿ ನನಸಾಗಲಿ ಎಂದು ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ.

*The 94th Foundation Day of the Billawar Association, Mumbai is being celebrated*

*Established on 24.01.1932*

1) Sri Gokarnanath Kshetra Committee (1911)
2) Billava Hithavardhaka Sangha (1922)
3) Billava Youth League (1947) and
4) Barkur Billava Institution (1952)

These four Billawa organizations witnessed the lifelong struggle of Brahmashri Narayana Guru, who fought relentlessly to eradicate social evils such as economic poverty, inequality between upper and lower classes, discrimination in entry to places of worship, injustice towards women, and similar issues.

Inspired by Guru’s teachings and philosophy — “Strength through Organization” — the prestigious Billawar Association, Mumbai came into existence in 1932 under the leadership of the Late Sri M. Appanna. The bold steps taken by him during that period laid a strong foundation, and today all Billawas take great pride in the Billawar Association, Mumbai.
Major milestones such as the establishment of Bharat Bank, construction of Billawa Bhavana, founding of Padubelle Kannada and English Medium School, establishment of Sri Guru Narayana Night High School at Santacruz, and the formation of 22 local Offices in Mumbai and its surrounding areas were achieved through the farsighted vision of former president Late Sri Jaya Suvarna, other presidents, and their respective Managing Committees. These achievements were possible only with the wholehearted support of all Billawas and well-wishers.

Five years ago, Sri Harish G. Amin assumed Office as President. In recognition of his valuable contributions, he was re-elected as President by the members of the community. Under his leadership, the Billawar Association, Mumbai has successfully achieved several landmarks, including:

1. Construction of the Billava Community Hall.
2. Purchase of new premises for the Jogeshwari and Kalyan local offices
3. Upgrading the Padubelle School to international standards
4. Installation of solar power systems at Billawa Bhavana.
5. Midday meal scheme for Padubelle School students
6. Educational assistance and scholarships for meritorious students
7. Honouring and supporting talents in sports, education, arts, literature, and folk traditions
8. Increase in widow pension assistance.
9. Organization of Kantabare–Boodabare (indoor) sports festival.
10. Koti Chennaya (outdoor) sports festival
11. Cricket tournaments
12. Yakshagana Sapthaha celebrations — Ashtaka, Navaka, and Dashaka
13. Reduction in electricity expenses through solar power installation
14. Rectification of several discrepancies found in property documents of Billawa Bhavana and the Samudaya Bhavan.

At present, the Association has undertaken a major project to establish its own Educational Institution in Mumbai, and is actively working toward arranging the required land and capital.

The Plans are also underway for:

1. Redevelopment of the Malad and Vasai local offices.
2. Acquisition of new premises for the Nallasopara–Virar local committee
3. Purchase of two new buses for Padubelle School
4. Renovation of the Billawa Bhavana auditorium to generate higher revenue.

5. Effective utilization of the Community Hall auditorium to enhance income.

Above all, the leadership remains committed to maintaining harmonious relations with all community members and working tirelessly for their overall welfare.

We sincerely pray that all the dreams of Brahmashri Narayana Guru for the upliftment of the community come true.
