THREADS OF HERITAGE, STORIES OF CRAFT 🧵✨

FICCI FLO Mumbai Chapter’s Textile Vertical brought the timeless art of Paithani to life through an immersive Live Loom Display & Artisan Workshop at Bandra House.

Under the leadership of Seema Saroj, Chairperson, FICCI FLO Mumbai, and the Executive Committee, the afternoon offered members a closer look at the people, skill and generations of tradition woven into every Paithani. 🤍

Thoughtfully led and curated by Monisha Gidwani, Joint Executive Secretary & Textile Vertical Lead, the session brought professional weavers from Paithan to Mumbai, along with a traditional loom, for an engaging demonstration of the craft. Members witnessed the intricate process, discovered the stories behind Paithani’s iconic motifs and borders, and gained a deeper understanding of the time, precision and patience behind every saree. 🪡

The conversation also highlighted the realities of sustaining artisan livelihoods and the importance of keeping traditional crafts relevant for future generations. 🌱

From Paithani weaving to hand-painted sarees from Jaipur and a curated showcase of artisan textiles, the afternoon was a celebration of India’s living textile heritage. 🇮🇳✨

Because every Paithani is more than a saree. It is heritage, livelihood and generations of craftsmanship, woven together one thread at a time. ❤️

Empowering Girls to Stay in Sports

Seema Saroj, Chairperson, FICCI FLO Mumbai, along with Laher Gala, Founder of Khelegi, presented the Khelegi programme to Shri Deepak Singla, IAS, Commissioner of Sports & Youth Services, Government of Maharashtra.

The discussion focused on an important challenge how we can enable more girls to not only enter sport, but continue playing as they grow.

Khelegi’s play-first curriculum, supported by the IOC Young Leaders Programme, is designed to build belonging, movement confidence, body awareness and resilience, while addressing barriers that can lead girls disengage from sport through puberty.

The proposed pilot aims to reach 1,000 girls from Maharashtra 500 from rural schools and 500 from urban schools helping us understand different barriers to participation and build a model for sustained engagement of girls in sport.

We thank Shri Deepak Singla ji for his valuable time, insights and encouraging engagement as we work towards taking this initiative forward.

Getting girls onto the field is the beginning.

Keeping them there is the real impact.

FICCI FLO Mumbai × Queens Drive Club came together for a women-led supercar drive dedicated to Cancer Awareness, Prevention & Early Detection.

Flagged off by Mrs. Amruta Fadnavis, the drive celebrated women taking the driver’s seat literally and symbolically with confidence, independence and purpose.

Supported by PATH Foundation & V Care Foundation, the initiative carried an important message: prioritise your health, get screened and remember that early detection can save lives.

Strengthening Women-Led Rural Enterprises

FICCI FLO Mumbai, led by Chairperson Seema Saroj, held a strategic meeting with Hon’ble Shri Jaykumar Gore, Minister for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Government of Maharashtra, along with senior government officials, Dr. Ujwala Chakradeo, Vice Chancellor, SNDT Women’s University, and key stakeholders.

The discussion focused on strengthening Maharashtra’s Self-Help Group ecosystem and enabling women to move from livelihoods to sustainable enterprises through better market access, branding, compliance, digital enablement and capacity building.

Representing a strong FICCI FLO Mumbai team, Treasurer Prachi Jain presented the proposed collaborative framework focused on enterprise development, CSR partnerships and sustainable rural growth, alongside Executive Secretary Megha Sushas, who contributed to shaping the discussions and way forward.

Building on FLO Mumbai’s experience with Amazon Saheli, the larger vision is to bring together Government, academia and industry to strengthen women-led enterprises across Maharashtra.

FICCI FLO Mumbai, in collaboration with Nasdaq, hosted an engaging leadership panel on “Evolving Workforce in the Times of AI” — exploring how AI is changing the way we work, lead, learn and build businesses. 💡

Through his work with SNDT Women’s University, Innovari is helping young women take their first steps from college ideas to innovation and entrepreneurship through mentoring and pre-incubation support — an important part of preparing the next generation for the future of work. 🚀
