Ahead of the Mass Drug Administration campaign starting from 10 February, a state-level convergence workshop was jointly facilitated with the Health Department in Patna, Bihar, with participation from 37 districts. The workshop aimed to strengthen coordination among Health Education, Panchayati Raj and JEEViKA. Hon’ble Rural Development Minister Shri Shravan Kumar emphasised that elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis must become a Jan Andolan and cannot be the responsibility of the Health Department alone. He highlighted the strong outreach potential of JEEViKA members and stressed the critical role of Panchayati Raj Institutions and schools in ensuring drug consumption. With strong convergence of institutional ownership and community participation, Bihar is moving steadily towards LF elimination.

The district festival Mondei–2025 in Nabarangpur, Odisha, brings the district together to celebrate its traditions, food and culture. It also provides space for setting up stalls and spreading awareness about various schemes. Every day, people from across Nabarangpur and nearby areas visit the festival.

During the festival, our stall was set up to share ongoing work in the district, with a special focus on the Pre-Matric Scholarship. To ensure that information about the scholarship reaches families and students in a simple and accessible way, team prepared a Pre-Matric Scholarship Awareness Calendar for the year 2026.

The Pre-Matric Scholarship Awareness Calendar was inaugurated by Shri Nityananda Gond, Hon’ble Minister for School & Mass Education, ST & SC Development, Minorities & Backward Classes Welfare, Social Security & Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of Odisha. The inauguration highlighted the importance of reaching families with timely and accurate information on educational support.

The calendar explains who is eligible for the Pre-Matric Scholarship, how to apply, the application process and the amount of financial support students can receive. For many families, meeting everyday education-related expenses such as notebooks and basic supplies is difficult. The scholarship helps reduce this burden, especially for students from SC, ST and other backward communities, so that children can continue their education without interruption.
