Help Us Keep the Joy of Reading Alive for 200+ Children!

Since 2021, the Community Development Association (CDA) has been working to uplift marginalized communities in Mankhurd. Currently, we run two community and school libraries—safe, joyful spaces where children can read, learn, and build their self-confidence.

To keep this beautiful initiative running and expand our reach, we need your support!

Our Annual Budget Requirements:
• Library Staff Salaries (2 Librarians): 4,80,000/-
• Activities & Supplies: 36,000/-
• Library Space Rent: 1,20,000/-

Total Annual Requirement: 6,36,000/-

The CDA team actively participated in the discussion, where important issues related to child protection, child rights, and the overall well-being of children were discussed.

The meeting provided a valuable platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and strengthening collective efforts to create a safer and more supportive environment for every child.

“Chatai Chat and Catch-up” with our Bookworm Alums ✨📚

A beautiful evening of conversations, shared experiences, and learning together. We discussed our work with adolescents, ways to interact with young readers in libraries, and the importance of creating safe and joyful reading spaces for them. 🌱

We also explored the importance of Marathi literature for adolescent readers and how stories in their own language help young people connect, imagine, and express themselves better. 📖💬

Our library now has Marathi literature books available for young readers. We invite children and adolescents to come, read, explore, and enjoy the world of books together. ❤️

✨ Empowered Women, Stronger Communities! ✨

With the incredible support of the Mariwala Health Foundation, our organization—Community Development Association Trust (CDA)—successfully completed a transformative one-year project!
We worked closely with 11 inspiring young girls and women from the sanitation workers’ community, providing them with vital training in physical health, mental health, and first aid responder skills. We are immensely proud to celebrate their achievements:

Employment - Participants are now securing good jobs.

Education - School and college dropouts have officially resumed their education!

Leadership - Many are actively serving as first-aid responders and community guides.

Confidence - This initiative has strengthened their leadership, self-belief, and livelihood opportunities.
A huge shoutout to our 11 changemakers : Khan Halima, Shaikh Shabana, Kute Gayatri, Patel Sheetal, Jaiswal Bharti, Shaikh Sara, Shaikh Misba, Lokhande Nikita, Shaikh Sabina, Pradhan Jaya, and Saroj Pinky.

They aren't just trained individuals; they are now active, responsible leaders driving positive change in their communities.

बस्ती में बाढ़ एक ऐसी पुस्तक है जिसमें लेखकों के अपने अनुभवों पर आधारित तीन मार्मिक कहानियाँ शामिल हैं। यह संग्रह एक गरीब बस्ती में अचानक आई बाढ़ और उससे पैदा हुई कठिन परिस्थितियों का सजीव चित्रण करता है।

कहानी का मुख्य विषय गरीब और मेहनतकश लोगों के संघर्ष, साहस और जीवटता को सामने लाना है। बाढ़ जैसी बड़ी मुसीबत के बीच भी लोग एक-दूसरे का सहारा बनते हैं और छोटी-छोटी खुशियों में उम्मीद ढूँढते हैं।

यह पुस्तक केवल प्राकृतिक आपदा की कहानी नहीं बताती, बल्कि समाज और व्यवस्था से जुड़े महत्वपूर्ण सवाल भी उठाती है—क्या बाढ़ सिर्फ प्रकृति की देन है, या इसके पीछे हमारी लापरवाही, असमानता और कमजोर व्यवस्थाएँ भी जिम्मेदार हैं?

Aashiyana Children’s Library is getting a new arrangement and setup to create a more joyful, creative, and child-friendly learning space for our children.

We are reorganising the library with new reading corners, learning materials, seating spaces, and creative sections so children can read, learn, imagine, and grow in a safe and inspiring environment.

A small step towards building a bigger culture of learning, equality, and creativity in the community.

At Aashiyana Library, our little girls enjoyed a fun and creative craft activity by making adorable paper dogs! 🐶✨

With colorful papers, imagination, and lots of excitement, the children created beautiful handmade crafts that reflected their creativity, confidence, and joyful spirit. Activities like these help children express themselves, improve their fine motor skills, and learn through play and art.

It was wonderful to see their smiles, teamwork, and unique ideas come alive in every creation. We are proud of our little artists and their amazing creativity!

🎬 Movie Screening Session at Aashiyana Children’s Library

We recently organized a meaningful movie screening session with our library children, where we watched the beautiful film Eidgah. 🌙

The session began with an interactive discussion about movies. Children enthusiastically shared their favorite films—ranging from action and superhero movies to ghost stories—creating a lively and engaging environment. We explored different themes in films such as friendship, personal growth, social issues, and how movies influence our thoughts and behavior.

After this discussion, we watched Eidgah together. The film deeply touched the children and encouraged them to think beyond entertainment.

Post-screening reflections were heartwarming:

Children shared their personal experiences of celebrating Eid.
They spoke about values like love, care, and sacrifice.
Many reflected on Hamid’s thoughtful decision to buy a chimta for his grandmother to protect her hands.
They also discussed how his friends reacted and how his grandmother’s emotions changed from anger to love.

✨ The session was not just about watching a movie—it became a space for reflection, empathy, and learning.
