Jeevan Dhara Jeevan Dhara is a registered NGO under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 in the year 2005.

Jeevan Dhara began its journey in 1997 by tirelessly working in two of Asia's largest slum communities, Cheetah Camp and Sathe Nagar in Mumbai. Initially, the organization provided food rations and housing for HIV-positive widows while also supporting their children's education. In 2005, Jeevan Dhara was officially registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO), m

arking a significant milestone in its efforts to expand outreach and impact. In May 2024, we launched a new center in Aman Shanti Nagar, Cotton Green, just a short distance from affluent South Mumbai. Over the past 27 years, Jeevan Dhara has evolved into a holistic initiative focusing on education, health, skill development, and community empowerment, positively impacting thousands of lives. Committed to uplifting underprivileged communities, Jeevan Dhara promotes self-reliance and sustainable development through quality education, healthcare, vocational training, and life skills. By addressing the root causes of poverty and inequality, the organization aims to create pathways for marginalized groups to lead dignified and self- sufficient lives. In addition to its educational and community initiatives, Jeevan Dhara also operates a de- addiction and rehabilitation center in Titwala, now in its 17th year. This center provides assistance to those with substance abuse and alcoholics from street-based and slum communities. Unlike lock-and-key facilities, it operates on a voluntary basis, welcoming individuals who seek recovery. By providing a safe and nurturing environment, the center plays a crucial role in helping individuals reclaim their lives and reintegrate into society.

कल सोनाली सिंह और आरती सिंह ने अमन शांति नगर के प्यारे बच्चों के साथ एक खास जन्मदिन मनाया। 🎂✨

सोनाली के मंगेतर मयुरेश अब इस दुनिया में नहीं हैं, लेकिन उनका प्यार और उनकी यादें हमेशा जीवित रहेंगी। हर साल, उनकी याद में, सोनाली अनाथ और ज़रूरतमंद बच्चों के बीच खुशियाँ बाँटती हैं। इस बार, उन्होंने Jeevan Dhara के बच्चों के साथ मयुरेश का जन्मदिन मनाने का फैसला किया।

On *18th February 2024*, *Jeevan Dhara NGO* joined hands with *Anganwadi workers* to organize a *De-Addiction Awareness* session focusing on *healthy food habits* 🍎🥗 and *protecting children from addiction* 🚫👶.

👥 *65 Anganwadi workers* participated in discussions on ensuring children's well-being, promoting nutritious diets, and safeguarding them from harmful habits.

🎭 Our *Jeevan Dhara kids* delivered a powerful *street play*, spreading awareness about addiction prevention and inspiring the community to protect the younger generation.

Jeevan Dhara, in collaboration with Viara Foundation, organized an engaging Health & Hygiene session for 22 young minds at our Aman Shanti Nagar Centre! 🏡💚

Jeevan Dhara successfully organized an awareness session on Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) at our Cheeta Camp Centre, led by a dedicated team of doctors.

Our Story

In 1998, Gene started with an outreach program in Asia’s largest slum community – Cheeta Camp. The initial focus, for the first 2 years was to get HIV+ patients accepted in the community and identifying the needy via door-to-door outreach. Gene distributed food rations to 350 widows, school fees for children between the ages of 3 to 6 years of HIV+ widows and provided medical assistance to HIV+ patients. In the 3rd year, Balwadis and Study Classes were started to help children in the community cope better with their studies and improve their academic performance.

In 2005, Gene along with his wife Shobha Bajpai D’Silva set up ‘Jeevan Dhara’ – meaning ‘Lifeline’, with the vision to provide a ‘Lifeline’ in the community for a better tomorrow. For the past 21 years, we have undertaken several initiatives to alleviate the pain and suffering of the poor – from the beginning, with Balwadis in 1998, to a De-Addiction Center in 2008, and various programs customized to help empower the underprivileged in society.
