Swar Mauli is a dream project of the Nightingale of India, Bharat Ratna Lata Mangeshkar.
An old age home for those from the field of music and performing arts, Swar Mauli is a helping hand, an autumn sonata.

This foundation will further begin the work to build the ‘old age home’ primarily for those artists who are left to their peril in the evening of their lives.

Latadidi always considered senior artistes as fountainhead of tradition, wisdom and art--Time's sentinels who hand over a rich legacy to the next generation.

Didi firmly held the view that India has, down the centuries, held in esteem the old and the beautiful.
It was Didi's vision to help and heal the elderly artists. Needless to add, this core value has shaped the concept of Swar Mauli.

Swar Mauli is eager to extend a touch of warmth to such artists, whether from the field of music, theatre, cinema or the performing arts.

Swar Mauli Foundation is a secular and non-profit organisation.

नमस्कार. आधुनिक वैद्यकशास्त्रांमुळे माणसाचं आयुर्मान वाढत आहे पण त्याच वेळेस त्या माणसाच्या भावनिक, मानसिक आणि शारीरिक गरजांची पूर्तता करणारी माणसं त्याच्या भोवती असतीलच असं नाही. माझ्या दीर्घ कारकिर्दीत, अनेक टप्प्यांवर मी अशी माणसं पाहत आले आहे की ज्यांचा आधार काळाने हिरावून नेला किंवा त्यांना आप्तेष्टांनीच वार्‍यावर सोडुन दिलं. त्यात कलेच्या क्षेत्रात काम करणाऱ्या अनेकांच्या भाळी हे दुःख आलं आहे. वि.वा. शिरवाडकरांनी ते हे दुःख नटसम्राटमधून अजरामर केलं आहे.

आयुष्याच्या संध्याछायेला पोहचलेले असताना पोरकं होणं ही भावना पचवणं कठीण असतं. मुळात पोरकं होणं ही भावनाच वाईट आणि आम्हा मंगेशकर भावंडानी तर अगदी लहानपणी वडील गमावल्याने ह्या भावनेचा आम्हाला चांगलाच परिचय आहे. त्यामुळे मी स्वतः कधीतरी ह्या दुःखातून गेली आहे आणि अशी अनेक माणसं माझ्या डोळ्यांनी मी पाहिली असल्यामुळे अशांचा आधार व्हावा ही भावना माझ्या मनात गेले काही वर्ष घर करून आहे.

अशा निराधार झालेल्या वृद्धांसाठी त्यांच्या हक्काचं असं एक निवासस्थान सुरु करावं अशी माझी इच्छा आहे. त्याला वृद्धाश्रम म्हणावंस नाही वाटत कारण त्याला आपल्याकडे नकारात्मकता चिकटली आहे. माझ्या मनात वृद्धांना त्यांच्या घराची उणीव भासणार नाही, उलट आयुष्याची उर्वरित वर्ष भूतकाळ उगाळत बसण्यापेक्षा सुंदर वर्तमान त्यांना उपभोगता येईल अशी जागा आहे. ह्यासाठी मी आणि माझ्या काही जवळच्या व्यक्तींनी तजवीज सुरु केली आणि “स्वर माउली फ़ाउंडेशन” ची स्थापना केली आहे.हे स्वप्न पूर्ण करण्यासाठी ते सगळे प्रयत्न करत आहेत.
मला खात्री आहे की माझ्या भावनेशी सहमत असणारे अजून काही जण नक्कीच या मांदियाळीमध्ये श्रद्धेने सामील होतील.

To begin with, I have lived through a gratifying and fulfilling career and I stand grateful and thankful to each one of you for your constant support, love and encouragement.

In the fast pace of one’s life, we have to balance our family and professional lives and ensure our families are well looked after. I grew up in an environment where family ties and bonds are sacrosanct.

As an artist, I’m on a constant drive to better myself and keep going as that’s what keeps mankind away from stagnation. Amidst this personal growth and balance, I am also a keen observer of what happens around me. In this journey, I witnessed a lot and they all add up to what I am today!

One of the most poignant part of my journey was witnessing a dismal side of life; wherein not all older people were being looked after by their families. In my younger days, I witnessed many of the artists from our film industry being left to their peril in the evening of their lives. I was overwhelmed and it left an indelible mark on my heart.

As years passed by, this dismal side of life overwhelmed me and I decided that I needed to do something in my own little way to heal this pain that I was witnessing all around.

Swar Mauli Foundation is my very own mission that has my heart and imprint interweaved in it.

Today, I have decided to reach out in my own little way. I realise as an individual, I have my limitations but I need to make a beginning.

Swar Mauli Foundation is based on the belief that no elderly should be left alone to face life when one is most vulnerable. It’s a small effort on my side to start a home founded on love and care for those who don’t get it.
It even goes beyond that; it’s a home for anyone who needs to be at peace with oneself. A place to give and share the essence of life.

Though, I have lost my parents, I still feel their presence and I find my solace. They guide, communicate and give strength when needed most.
With their blessings, I wish to spread and share happiness around.

I hope a few others who share similar sentiments will join me in my crusade.-
