Our union led a delegation to the local MLA, from Malad, to raise issues related to water supply in Ambujwadi, Malvani. We are grateful for his liaison work with ward PN in resolving low water pressure in the community.

Access to basic amenities remains a challenge even in recognized slum settlements in Mumbai. Active community-level intervention on a daily basis is required to ensure seamless access to these amenities.

▫️Children Learning Centre received appreciation from district judges for its work in education and crime reduction

▫️CLC continues to operate even amidst an acute funding shortage due to stigmatisation

Concerned by the rise in drug abuse and crime among children in the slums of Mumbai, judges from DLSA and district courts visited our Children’s Learning Centre in Mandala Mankhurd - a slum area in the M east ward of Mumbai - to understand the ground realities. Organising the meeting with the honorable judges was made possible through the dedicated efforts of Mr. Ubaid from Global Care Foundation.

In the heart of Mumbai’s M-east ward, our Children’s Learning Centre stands as a beacon of hope, providing a nurturing environment for first-generation learners. This initiative not only offers a learning space but also serves as a stronghold against the rising tide of drug abuse and crime among vulnerable children.

Today, esteemed judges from DLSA and district courts visited our Centre to witness firsthand the impact of our efforts. Through engaging discussions with parents and children, we highlighted the crucial role education plays in deterring drug abuse and crime. The judges commended our proactive approach, recognizing the tangible results of our endeavors in the community.

The Children’s Learning Centre provides a learning space for first-generation learners in Mandala, Mankhurd, in Mumbai’s M-east ward, one of the most backward wards with 90% of its population living in slums and very weak public infrastructure, including healthcare and education.

Given the poor socio-economic background, the Centre offers its services to children free of cost, relying on donations for its functioning. Working with stigmatized communities poses funding challenges throughout the year.

The visit by judicial authorities and their appreciation of our work boosted our morale. We hope to continue our half-decade-old initiative for as long as possible. Please contribute so that we can carry on with this essential work.

Honoring Republic Day

Today, as we raise our tricolor high in celebration of India’s Republic Day, I’m thrilled to share glimpses of our flag hoisting ceremonies across various locations where our organization is actively working with informal sector workers and their children. These moments symbolize not just our fervor but also our unwavering dedication to uplifting communities through education, social entitlements, and healthcare. Resolve to join our movement to uplift the living standard of the most marginalized and neglected communities without any prejudices.

Our union continues its efforts to ensure social security coverage for construction workers in Mumbai. We reach out to them at nakas, large construction sites, and through app-based platforms. The registration process with the welfare board is a lengthy and complex multi-level procedure, but our team leaves no stone unturned to facilitate the registration as expeditiously as possible.

Here are some pictures showcasing successful registrations. These workers are now eligible for various schemes covering health, housing, insurance, education, maternity benefits, and much more. Kudos to the KSSS team for their untiring efforts on the ground.
