Caring for the environment is part of everyday life. Communities continue to protect and restore the natural resources they depend on—often with limited means, but with deep foresight and responsibility.

These efforts show up in the form of:
- Planting and nurturing native trees
- Conserving water through ponds, tanks, and local systems
- Reducing waste through segregation and composting
- Practising chemical-free, local farming
- Managing shared commons

At Axis Bank Foundation, we work with our partners to strengthen what communities are already building—helping these practices grow, sustain, and reach more households.

This Earth Day, it’s a reminder: while many communities lead from the front, protecting our planet is a shared responsibility.

Across rural India, communities are already taking simple steps to improve their quality of life—growing their own food, caring for livestock, managing water together, eating better, and prioritising regular health check-ups.

At Axis Bank Foundation, we work alongside communities and partners to deepen these efforts—enabling learning, building local capacities, and strengthening the systems that sustain them. Because small steps, taken together, can transform everyday life.

Titled “Rooted in Communities, Growing with Time”, our latest Annual Report (FY 2024–25) reflects the evolution of Mission 2 Million — a journey that has strengthened the lives and livelihoods of over 2 million rural families across India.

Each layer of this journey, much like the rings of a tree, carries the stories of learning, renewal, and resilience. It celebrates the power of partnerships, the depth of community leadership, and the quiet strength that sustains change over time.

As we look ahead to Mission 4 Million, we remain guided by one belief — that when communities thrive, progress endures.

At Axis Bank Foundation, we’re inspired by communities across rural India who create new beginnings daily — by learning, nurturing, and working together to build brighter futures.

Their spirit reflects the true meaning of Diwali: hope, perseverance, and the light of collective progress.

Happy Diwali from all of us at Axis Bank Foundation! 🪔

We’re creating a stronger safety net for rural families by developing a basket of livelihoods—diverse income sources that empower communities beyond traditional agriculture. Floriculture is a part of this shift, providing jobs, supplementing household income, and strengthening local economies.

Through our Sustainable Livelihood Programme, we work with rural communities, along with our partners, to introduce flower farming. It is an alternate income-generating avenue and also serves as a trap crop that naturally manages pests and protects the main food crops. The programme’s training sessions equip rural communities with new skills, enabling them to thrive and grow.

The Rabi cropping season begins in November with the sowing of crops like wheat, mustard, chickpeas, and many more.
Farmers tend to their fields throughout the cool winter months, preparing for a harvest in March and April.

Rabi crops are more than just a winter harvest—they are vital for food security, economic stability, and agricultural sustainability.

Through the Sustainable Livelihood Programme, rural communities can diversify their crops, build resilience, and create sustainable livelihoods, all while fostering better preparedness for a successful Rabi season!

Have you seen the Pantone Colour of the Year yet? - Mocha Mousse

Mocha Mousse feels so familiar – it instantly reminds us of this rural Indian landscape!

We couldn’t help but notice the striking resemblance between our earthy मिट्टी tones and this rich, warm colour.

Here’s a short snippet of a village space in the colour Mocha Mousse. These spaces foster social interaction, facilitate the exchange of ideas and news, and play a pivotal role in community decision-making, enabling community members to come together and address important issues.

Horticulture is an income-generating pathway adopted by an increasing number of families in rural India, which reduces migration, provides year-round income, and creates countless growth opportunities. With better farming techniques, strong market linkages, and government support, it is enabling rural areas to thrive.

In regions where horticulture was once unfamiliar, training programmes have been crucial. By equipping farmers with hands-on knowledge and skills, they are now successfully cultivating high-value crops and transforming their agricultural practices.

These training initiatives which are part of the Sustainable Livelihood Programme have also connected farmers to various government schemes, giving them access to financial support and creating long-term economic opportunities.
