DEEKSHA

DEEKSHA DEEKSHA is an ISO 9001: 2015 certified NGO working for Environmental Conservation & Preservation.

As our name “Diffuse Environmental Education Keep Society Humbly Aware” signifies, we constantly work for creation of Environmental Awareness in the society. We are involved in various activities towards conservation of the environment, plantation activities, development of herbal gardens, water harvesting, solid waste management etc. Besides awareness generation activities, we execute a wide vari

ety of value based projects aimed at environmental conservation as also those which impact sustainable living. At DEEKSHA, the “marg-darshaks” are people from all ages and sections of the society. With the feeling of belonging and cooperation, we have played a vital role in making the younger generation aware about ways and means of preserving and conserving the environment and its related facets. We at DEEKSHA have always felt that the educationists and students are the best medium to spread environmental awareness in the society as they act as catalysts to change the mind-set about various facets of Environmental Conservation. It is our belief that students are 100% future of the nation and the educators are effective catalysts in shaping the minds of students during their formative years and help make them realize the importance of having a clean and green environment around them. Besides focusing our efforts towards students, we conduct workshops for women, educationists and senior citizens from time to time to build their interest in this noble cause. DEEKSHA aims to change the mind-sets of the people who think that we are not the only one responsible for the ugly face of environment today as we certainly believe that we may not be the only one, but we certainly can become the first one to save it. Projects Undertaken By DEEKSHA

DEEKSHA has been working to shape the future of the society into an environmentally sound and sustainable one. Shemrock World, Ropar – A Green Classroom

26 July 2025 marked a special morning as Mrs Tripat Parmar, Director DEEKSHA, led an interactive workshop on planting, caring for, and understanding the magic of herbal & medicinal plants.

Bright-eyed students gathered, each holding a young sapling close to their hearts. From learning why Tulsi uplifts immunity to the soothing secrets of Aloe vera, every moment was buzzing with curiosity and joy. The Director of the School along with teachers, the Principal, and Mrs Parmar herself exchanged stories of home gardens, while little hands dug into the earth, planting seeds of knowledge and responsibility.

Together, we didn’t just plant herbal plants, we planted hope for healthier homes and a greener tomorrow. Here’s to nurturing young minds, one leaf at a time.

Planting Roots, Growing Bonds, One Sapling at a Time

On 19 July 2025, DEEKSHA, in collaboration with the warm and proactive residents of ATS CASA ESPANA, carried out a community plantation drive that was more than just an environmental event, it was a celebration of togetherness and shared responsibility.

From young children digging tiny pits with great pride, to senior citizens gently planting hope into the earth, every participant became a guardian of nature that day. Parents, security guards, housekeeping staff, residents, and volunteers, all united by one simple yet powerful thought: "If not us, then who?"

172 saplings were lovingly planted, each one a promise to the future. These saplings will soon grow into a lush green belt, and make their humble and tiny contribution to shield the community from dust, pollution, and rising temperatures. But more importantly, they will stand as a living symbol of what can happen when a community comes together with intent and action.

To every single person who joined in, thank you for showing that real change begins with small steps and many hands. Let’s water them, protect them, and grow along with them. Because every tree matters. Every hand counts. Every action leaves behind a story worth telling.

With hands in the soil and hearts with nature - DEEKSHA, along with the warm hearted and spirited residents of Ansals Society, Sector 114, Mohali, Punjab, planted 200 tree saplings like Mango, Jamun, Amla, Bel, Moringa, Neem, Amla, Shahtoot and Kari Patta.

It was a beautiful sight to see the enthusiasm amongst the residents - from senior citizens to youth, everyone was there to make their contribution towards greening mother earth.

Let’s keep nurturing this bond with nature - one sapling, one smile, one residential area at a time.

“What is biodiversity to a child?”

At Shemrock World, Ropar, on a bright May morning - we watched that answer unfold.

To mark International Biodiversity Day 2025, DEEKSHA entered not just a school, but a world where curiosity still sits at the front row. Collaborating with Punjab Biodiversity Board and sponsored by National Biodiversity Authority, Government of India, we didn't organise a typical workshop. We began a dialogue - between children and nature.

There were no lectures. Only stories.

Stories of vanishing rivers, forests that hum with life, pollinators that hold the secret to our food and how plastic pollution is adversely affecting life on the planet. There were games that mimicked how the world breathes in patterns - interlinked, interdependent. They planted seeds - not into soil, but into imagination.

Then came a voice - small but unforgettable: “If bees vanish, will the mangoes vanish too?” It wasn’t a question. It was realisation taking shape. At that moment, we enjoyed playing our real role. Not just to share facts. Not to instruct. But to spark curiosity. To awaken concern. To help children feel their bond with the Earth.

The future doesn’t arrive one day. It arrives quietly - in moments like these. Where listening becomes learning. Where nature is not ‘taught’ - but remembered. Where biodiversity is not a subject to study, but a part of life to care for.

INTERNATIONAL BIODIVERSITY DAY 2025 – IMPACT AT THE GRASSROOTS

On 24th May 2025, DEEKSHA NGO, in collaboration with the Punjab Biodiversity Board and sponsored by the National Biodiversity Authority, Govt of India, conducted a powerful workshop on Biodiversity & Solid Waste Management at Village Alal Majra, District Patiala.

68 villagers including women, children & elders joined hands to learn, engage, and pledge towards cleaner, greener living.

Waste segregation was explained in simple Punjabi and demonstrated by the team DEEKSHA. Villagers got the firsthand experience of segregating “Dry & Wet Waste” for the first time.

The response was overwhelming: many said this was their first real understanding of “waste segregation.” Women pledged to teach their families, and the Sarpanch, Mr. Baldev Singh, promised to make Alal Majra to become a cleaner, greener model for surrounding villages.

Sets of twin dustbins were gifted to the village as the first step toward change. “Now I can teach my children to care for nature,” shared a local woman.

This initiative is part of DEEKSHA’s mission to make rural India a stakeholder in ecological preservation through action-based education. Villages like Alal Majra are not just beneficiaries - they are partners in shaping a sustainable future. As we look at it, this workshop wasn’t a one-day event – it is a beginning. We’ll return soon to monitor dustbin usage, introduce composting, and promote plastic alternatives. Together, we’re sowing seeds for a healthier environment.

This is how transformation begins – in villages, by people, for the planet.

Let’s keep bridging the awareness-action gap.

A Bloom of Hope

"What once was, now blooms – the last five pictures hold the story of effort, the first three, its reward."

In March 2024, DEEKSHA, in partnership with CMS Info Systems Limited under their CSR initiative, planted 110 saplings of native species in the open green spaces of Ansals, Sector 114, Mohali.

Among them were these graceful Kaner plants, which are standing proud and blooming brightly, today on the 22nd of May 2025, as symbols of persistence, patience, and the quiet power of nature besides creating a haven for walkers and nature lovers.

This was not just a plantation drive. It was a year-long journey of nurturing - a labour of love. From identifying and preparing the land, digging pits, enriching the soil with organic manure, to regular watering through Punjab’s scorching summer - every step was taken with care.

Today, the flowers remind us that when we care, nature rewards - not with noise, but with quiet beauty.
A heartfelt thanks to the residents of the community, CMS Info Systems Ltd, and everyone who believed in this green dream.

Let’s continue to sow hope. Let’s continue to grow together.
