ACIC RISE Association, CGC Landran, successfully hosted the Regional AIM SUMVAAD – North Edition, bringing together policymakers, incubator leaders, healthcare innovators, industry experts, and startup ecosystem enablers to strengthen the innovation and entrepreneurship landscape across Northern India.

The conclave witnessed the official launch of Regional Chapters and Local Chains, reinforcing the vision of decentralizing innovation and extending startup support to grassroots ecosystems. A high-impact panel discussion on “Scaling Impact through State-Led Startup Ecosystems” featured distinguished dignitaries including Ms. Deepika Rana Khatri (HAS), Govt. of Himachal Pradesh; Mr. Deepinder Dhillon, Startup Punjab; Mr. Prasad Menon, CEO, CIBA; and Mr. Prateek Deshmukh, NITI Aayog, among others, discussing collaborative strategies for sustainable entrepreneurial growth.

A major highlight of the event was the unveiling of the AIM NORTHERN CHAPTER (Punjab & J&K), environed and supported by PI-RAHI (S&T Cluster of IIT Ropar & Panjab University Chandigarh), aimed at strengthening regional innovation ecosystems.

The event also featured insightful deliberations on “Transforming Healthcare Innovation: Building MedTech Incubators in Hospitals” by Dr. Aashish Chaudhry, MD, Aakash Hospitals, Harvard Medical School Alumni & Guinness World Record Holder, emphasizing the need for hospitals to evolve into innovation hubs addressing real-world clinical challenges. Speaking at the event, S. Satnam Singh Sandhu, MP Rajya Sabha and Chairman CGC Landran emphasized the need for collaborative innovation platforms that leverage regional strengths. Additionally, Campus Director; Dr. Rajdeep Singh emphasised on augmenting innovation ecosystem in academic settings. In continuum, Dean R&D, Prof. (Dr.) Neha Sharma and CEO-ACIC RISE Association Dr. Amresh Panjla; highlighted the importance of student driven innovation ecosystem.

Further discussions focused on strengthening synergy between host institutions and incubators, promoting research commercialization, and exploring CSR-driven collective action for supporting startups in scaling sustainably.

The conclave stood as a remarkable step towards building a collaborative, inclusive, and future-ready startup ecosystem for the nation.

The North SUMVAAD was organized by the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) under NITI Aayog, at ACIC RISE, CGC Landran Mohali on 5th May 2026. The day-long conclave brought together policymakers, incubator CEOs, academia, industry, and investors to strengthen the innovation ecosystem across North India.
The Joint Chapter Launch of Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab was inaugurated by S. Satnam Singh Sandhu (Chairman CGC Landran; Member, Rajya Sabha), Prof. (Dr.) Rajdeep Singh (Campus Director, CGC Landran), Prof. (Dr.) Neha Sharma (Dean R&D, CGC Landran), Ms. Deepika Rana Khatri (IAS, DG HP), S. Deepinder Singh Dhillon (Startup Punjab), Mr. Prasad Menon (ISBA Head) and Mr. Prateek Deshmukh (Program Lead, AIM).
Speaking at the event, S. Satnam Singh Sandhu emphasized the need for collaborative innovation platforms that leverage regional strengths. He noted that Punjab and J&K share entrepreneurial energy and academic depth, and this joint chapter would unlock new opportunities for startups, youth, and industry across both states.
The launch of the Punjab and J&K Incubation Consortium was well supported by Dr. Shahid Jibran (CEO, AIC- IIM Bio-Innovation), Mr. Naman Singhal (CEO, AIC-ISB), Mr. Adarsh Aggarwal (CEO, AIC- Chitkara University) and Prof. (Dr.) Amresh Kumar (CEO, ACIC RISE CGC LANDRAN). The initiative was strengthened by inputs from Prof. Rajat S. Sandhir, Panjab University and PI Rahi.
Dr. Aashish Chaudhary (Director, Akash Hospital), addressed the gathering during his session on Transforming Healthcare Innovation: Building MedTech Incubators in Hospitals. He highlighted how hospital-based incubators can accelerate clinical validation, ensure clinician-led problem solving, and create sustainable pathways for MedTech startups to reach patients faster.
The event concluded with strategic dialogues on state-led startup ecosystems, industry-CSR collaboration, and aligning incubator support with startup ambitions, marking a significant step toward collective action for innovation in North India.

CGC Landran is proud to host the Regional AIM SUMVAAD (North Edition) on 5th May, 2026, on its campus. This prestigious event, organized by AIM and NITI Aayog, serves as a vital dialogue platform to mobilize the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem across the northern region, including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Delhi. Department of RISE, CGC Landran, in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, and Punjab State Council for Science and Technology (PSCST), Chandigarh, successfully hosted IP Manthan 2026 — celebrating innovation, intellectual property, and startup growth.

The event commenced with a welcome note by Prof. (Dr.) Dinesh Arora (IPR Head & Registered Patent Agent), setting the tone for insightful discussions on intellectual property and innovation.

The event was further graced by Chief Guest Dr. Amarpal Singh (Chairman, PSEB), Guest of Honor Dr. Dapinder Kaur Bakshi (Joint Director, PSCST), and Keynote Speaker Prof. (Dr.) Balwinder Sooch (DPIIT–IPR Chair, Punjabi University, Patiala), who shared valuable insights on transforming innovation into assets and navigating the Indian IP ecosystem.
Prof. (Dr.) Amanpreet Kaur (HOD- IT), President, Institute’s Innovation Council (IIC), CEC- CGC Landran delivered a session on ATL Linkage & IIC’s role the startup ecosystem.

Following the addresses in the first half, an engaging IP Quiz was organized for about 400 school students from the region of Punjab and Chandigarh encouraging participation and strengthening their understanding of intellectual property concepts.

A power-packed fireside chat, hosted by Prof. (Dr.) Neha Sharma (Dean Research, CGC Landran) and Prof. (Dr.) Dinesh Arora, featured industry experts — Mr. Sahil Makkar (CEO, Punjab Angels Network), Mr. Ganesh Jha (TiE Chandigarh), Mr. Sachin Khosla (TiE Chandigarh) & Mr. Anurag Mohindra — along with participating Start-ups including Nerve Cells AI Pvt. Centre for Boudhik Sampada (CBS), Department of RISE, (R&D), CGC Landran, is delighted to announce World IP Day Exclusive: IP Manthan - 2026 scheduled on 30th April, 2026. The colloquium is in collaboration with the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India, and the Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), Chandigarh. Anticipating, to create awareness and augment the understanding of Intellectual Property (IP) while emphasizing its crucial role in innovation, research, and entrepreneurship. Around 400 school students from the region of Punjab along with faculty members will attend the IP symposium and participate in the IP quiz for the students.

The Department of RISE, CGC Landran proudly shares that Dr. Deepika Sharma (Publication Head, CGC Landran) presided as Session Judge for the Oral Presentations based on the Theme of Bio-Innovation at the 2nd International Conference on Biomanufacturing, Bio-Innovation, and Environmental Sustainability (ICBBES-2026), held at Chandigarh University, Mohali.
The conference brought together researchers, academicians, and innovators from diverse institutions to discuss emerging trends in biomanufacturing, bio-innovation, and environmental sustainability. As session judge, Dr. Sharma evaluated several innovative research presentations, appreciating the creativity and scientific rigor demonstrated by young researchers and scholars.
Adding to the department’s participation, Mr. Ramandeep Saini (Techno-Commercial Research Fellow, CGC Landran) also attended the conference and delivered an oral presentation under the theme “Environment”, entitled “Environmental Biotechnology for Pollution Control and Waste Valorization: A Review,” showcasing his work and contributing to the exchange of scientific ideas with researchers from various institutions.

"The Department of RISE, CGC Landran has formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) under the Drone Technology Lab initiative with Enovation Lab LLP, founded by Er. Ajay Kumar Godara. The primary objective of this collaboration is to strengthen industry–academia interlinkage by offering practical training, workshops, and skill development programs in the fields of drone technology, robotics, and automation. This partnership aims to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and industry requirements by equipping students with hands-on experience and exposure to real-world applications. It aims to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and technical competency among students.
The MoU has been actively carried out by Er. The Department of RISE, CGC Landran successfully conducted a workshop on IP Awareness and Patent Filing - Unlock the power of Intellectual Property for the students of CGC-COE in the Convention Hall, Block-10. The workshop was conducted by Prof. (Dr.) Dinesh Arora (IPR Head, CGC Landran), who delivered an insightful session on intellectual property rights and patent filing procedures.
The valuable guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Neha Sharma (Dean R&D, CGC Landran) was instrumental in the successful organization and smooth ex*****on of the workshop, ensuring an enriching learning experience for all participants.
The session highlighted the importance of Intellectual Property Rights, the role of patents in research and innovation, step-by-step patent filing procedures, and key requirements for filing patents. The session was graciously organized under the leadership of Dr. Neha Sharma (Dean R&D, CGC Landran) whose presence added great value and encouragement to the faculty members.
Dr Sandeep Singh Research, CGC University Mohali) delivered an informative session providing in-depth insights into the Ph.D programs offered, eligibility criteria, admission procedures, and the robust research infrastructure available at the university. Sir also highlighted the importance of research, innovation, and academic excellence in shaping future scholars. Dr. Vikasdeep singh Mann Dean Research, CGC University Mohali) emphasised on research ethics, and the pivotal role of doctoral studies in advancing scholarly excellence.
