About Seva Mandal Meghraj

The founder of the institution Dr. Vallabhdas Poonamchand Doshi, resident of nearby town Modasa, 35 KM from this place, was doing medical practice in another nearby village Malpur. He saw the problems and struggle of the people living in this area and was deeply touched by the heart. Dr. Doshi was a follower of guiding principles of Pujya Mahatma Gandhiji, Sant Vinobaji and community leader Jay Prakash Narayanji. He expressed his desire to serve these people and Sant Vinobaji inspired him to do work in this tribal area known as Kasana of Meghraj taluka.

Dr. Doshi was Ayurvedic Doctor and so he started with a clinic in Meghraj. Initial few years involved providing medical help along with organizing drives like Village Cleaning, Community Awareness and and Education, Child and Women Welfare and so on. Seeing dedication and non selfish efforts of Dr. Doshi and the results of his efforts, people of Kasana donated 1 acre land for these activities in Kasana and since then in 1960, Kasana became hub of all activities of Dr. Doshi.

The Seva Mandal Megharaj did excellent work under the guidance of Dr. Doshi during drought years of 1987-88-89 and 2003-04. With help of generous donors, the institute did relief work of over Rs. 50 Lacs during these years. It also covered nearby areas of Meghraj, Malpur and Bhiloda to serve people in the difficult period of drought.

Objectives

The Seva Mandal Meghraj has been established to serve mankind with the theme Help to People is Help to God (Jan Seva Ej Prabhu Seva). Our main objectives are as under:-

To Change Society based on National Interest and Moral Values of Life.

To look for Changes in present Economic, Social & Political structure so that the last individual also gets benefit from National Wealth and Education

An Active Participation of Village Individuals in the solution of their problems rather than imposing from State and national Capital

To provide basic education and opportunities so that the individuals can be self sufficient for their basic needs and do not have to rely on outsiders to decide their basic necessities

To act as a link between local people and Government for Information and for the facilities they are entitled from Government.

To solicit Community Participation for identifying and solving their own problems

Nandlal Doshi

After the death of Dr. Doshi, his Son took over the charge of the institution. He took voluntary retirement from his State Government Service as Additional Industry Commissioner and joined the institution. The institute has now been making fast progress under his able and efficient leadership.

Today, after a period of more than 50 years of service in this area, the institution has expanded a lot. Credit goes to its generous donors and people who do the actual work. It has now a big hospital, Primary School, Secondary School, Higher Secondary School, Hostels for Boys and Girls, Nurseries under its Umbrella.

Ansuya Doshi

After the death of Nandlal Doshi, his wife Ansuya Doshi took over the charge of the institution. She was actively involved in the day to day administration of the institution along with Mr. Nandlal Doshi since last 10 years. She is taking the vision of the institution further through her creative ways to take the institution to greater heights. Under her able guidance, a new Boys’ hostel (with 8 rooms & toilets), Vinoba Kutir have been developed recently.

Bijal Shah, Ansuyaben’s daughter has been supporting this cause and is the administrator of this page. She is actively involved in the new developments and creative work undertaken by the institution.
