📍Civil Lines Meerut 🪵💔
This road genuinely does not require such an extension. These young, healthy trees could potentially be transplanted instead of cut down. Development is important, but it should never come at the cost of nature.

Destroying trees in the name of progress is neither sustainable nor fair to our environment. 👎

Environment Club Opposes Unnecessary Felling of Mature Trees in Civil Lines Meerut 🌳🚫

Development should never come at the cost of destroying nature. If nature survives, only then will humanity survive. With this message, volunteers of Environment Club, Meerut raised their voices in protest against the unnecessary cutting of mature trees on Circuit House Road.

After receiving information about tree felling in the name of road widening, the Club team immediately reached the site and staged a peaceful protest. The volunteers strongly opposed the cutting of decades-old Neem and Pilkhan trees, highlighting their immense ecological value in providing shade, improving air quality, reducing pollution and supporting biodiversity.

The Club questioned the logic of replacing 25-year-old mature trees with tiny saplings that will take several decades to provide the same environmental benefits. Can newly planted saplings compensate for the irreversible loss of mature trees today?

During the protest, volunteers raised slogans such as "मत लो तुम पेड़ों की जान धरती होगी रेगिस्तान, पेड़ों के हत्यारे हाय हाय, पेड़ काटना पाप है, वृक्ष धरा का आभूषण है." Many local residents also joined the movement and extended their support.

On the request of police, the protest concluded peacefully. However, Environment Club has resolved to submit a formal representation to the government, urging authorities to prioritize sustainable development and explore alternatives that protect existing trees instead of sacrificing them in the name of progress.

Development and environmental conservation must go hand in hand- not against each other 🌳💚

Environment Club organized a Cleanup and plastic awareness drive at historic Augharnath Temple, Meerut Cantt, encouraging devotees to make Kanwar Yatra 2026 cleaner and more environmentally responsible.

During the drive, volunteers collected plastic waste including polythene bags, disposable plates, bottles, caps and other litter from the temple surroundings, contributing towards a cleaner pilgrimage route.

The team also interacted with devotees visiting the temple and appealed to them to maintain cleanliness inside and around the Shivalays. Volunteers highlighted that Lord Shiva is deeply connected with nature and protecting the environment is one of the greatest forms of devotion. Devotees were encouraged to reject single-use plastic, carry reusable cloth bags and adopt sustainable habits during the holy month of Shravan.

The campaign concluded with a Plastic-Free Pledge, where participants pledged to reduce plastic use and become responsible citizens. Together, let's make our faith, festivals, and Kanwar Yatra greener, cleaner and truly worthy of Lord Shiva's blessings. 🌿🙏

Once considered waste is now a source of life. Wrapped “मेरी गुठली मेरा पेड़” campaign 2026, collected kernels were handed over to the Forest Department Meerut.

"मेरी गुठली मेरा पेड़ " Campaign 2026 concluded successfully after inspiring hundreds of citizens to collect and donate mango and jamun seeds. Continuing its annual tradition, the campaign transformed what would have become waste into a valuable resource for nature.

At the closing ceremony held at Sanjay Van Nursery, Delhi Road, the club team handed over several kilograms of collected seeds to Forest Inspector Sandeep Dahiya, where they were sown to be nurtured into future trees. Club Founder Sawan Kanojia shared that this marked the 5th season of the campaign, reinforcing the message that even the smallest individual effort can create a lasting environmental impact.

The campaign promotes the concept of "Waste to Wealth", encouraging people to make environmental conservation a part of their daily lives. Instead of throwing away fruit seeds, let's collect them, nurture them and help grow the forests of tomorrow.

Every seed has the potential to become a tree. This Monsoon, don't throw your mango or jamun seeds into the dustbin- plant them, preserve them or donate them. Together, let's transform everyday waste into a greener future for generations to come.
