Arumai Illam Charitable Society Arumai Illam is a charitable initiative dedicated to helping the underprivileged with education, food, and shelter. Join us in making a difference!

We are located on almost 2 acres of land in a small village right outside of Mayiladuthurai , Tamil Nadu, India. The school for Deaf and mentally disabled children has been running since 1987.
-K-10th for deaf students. Teaching core subjects and how to communicate with other deaf people as well as with hearing people.
-mainly primary school and daycare for the mentally disabled students. Teachin

g basic life skills. Students ranging in age from 5 to mid 20's, depending on the year. In 2011 the orphanage was started when our first child arrived.Since then, we have grown to 28 children. Some had no one , others had one parent or were living with a relative that were no longer able to provide for them. In 2012 the aged home was started. We currently have 10 elderly men and women staying here. We are hoping to be able build an additional building in the back piece of our land so that they are able to have their own space.

💛 With heavy hearts, we share the sad news of Vairam’s demise.
Her family faced difficult times, and we are deeply grateful to the Rotary Club for stepping in and helping with her final rites, ensuring she was laid to rest with dignity.
