Chaitanya Kul Reducing the suffering of children and enabling a joyful childhood with enriching learning experience

Chaitanya Kul is a community intervention and learning space for children in Adari, District Mau, Uttar Pradesh. We started in 2018 with the theory of change "एक जीव की जीविका, दूजा जीव कल्याण" - betterment of living and livelihood. The intention was to run it as a safe space for stressed children brought up in a society with toxic behaviour cycles and a rote learning system. We strive to make the

ir childhood joyful and meaningful by inspiring them and enabling an environment of positive exposure. They get opportunities to inculcate entrepreneurial skills to develop a contributor mindset than be the consumer so that they prove to be an asset to society. Currently, we function as an after-school program for less privileged children, as an experiential learning space that enables the processes of exploration, inquiry, experience, hands-on knowledge creation, and self-directed learning. We plan to expand as a full-time learning space with programs in academics, extra-curricular activities, soft skills to find their ikigai.

Learning in Motion!

Education is even better when you’re on the move! Portuguese volunteer Mariana joined forces with our Sparsh Youth Leader Rahul to bring a burst of energy to the classroom. By combining English and Math with movement and play, they turned traditional lessons into an active, joyful experience for the children.

Seeing the students engage with language through physical activity proves that when learning is fun, it truly sticks!

🌱 A New Chapter Begins 🌱
This week, something beautiful unfolded at Chaitanya Kul, our first online STEM class for children from Denotified and Nomadic Tribes (DNT).

These are children whose families have wandered for generations, often unheard and unseen, still carrying the weight of old labels and lost opportunities.

Today’s session was about the responsible and creative use of social media. Exploring how digital spaces can be used for learning, expression, and opportunity. For storytelling, learning, and finding their voice. 🌍💻

For those unfamiliar, DNT communities are groups in India who were once labeled as “criminal tribes” during colonial times and continue to face deep social and economic exclusion even today. Many families still struggle for stable livelihoods, recognition, and access to education.

Through these classes, we hope to open new windows of learning and self-confidence helping children from DNT communities connect with the world on their own terms ✨
