Nityananda-sakha) His father was named Kamalaksa and his grandfather, Bhatta Narayana. His Sripata is at Yasada village in the district of Nadia near the Cakdaha railway station. Deities of Lord Jagannatha and Lord Gauranga, established by Jagadisa, are still in existence at his Sripata. He was Candrahansa in his past incarnation (CC. 1.11.30; Gauraganoddesadipika 153; Sripataparyatana). Further details may be found in Jagadisacaritra.
“Shri Jagadisha Pandita is the savior of the world. He distributes the nectar of love of Krishna just like a dense mass of dark clouds in the sky distributes rainfall.” [C.c. Adi 11.30] Shri Jagadisa Bhatta took his birth in the region of Gaihati. His father’s name was Shri Kamalaksa Bhatta, who was the son of Bhatta Narayana, who hailed from Goyghar Bandyaghata. Both the mother and father of Jagadisa were very devoted Visnu-bhaktas. After his parents passed away he came with his wife to live on the banks of the Ganges. His wife’s name was Dukhini-devi. (His younger brother Mahesa also came with him to reside on the banks of the Ganga.) They built their house near the home of Jagannatha Misra. Shri Gaurasundara instructed Jagadisa to preach Hari Nam at Nilacala. Thus he took shelter of the lotus feet of Lord Jagannatha. At that time he prayed at the feet of Lord Jagannatha and was rewarded by obtaining a Deity of the lotus-eyed Lord. This he brought to Yasora, on the banks of the Ganga near Cakdaha. This Deity was brought suspended from a staff which is still being worshipped in the temple of Lord Jagannatha at Jasora. This temple is presently under the charge of Shri Gaudiya Math, and is a rickshaw ride away from Cakdaha railway station, on the Sealdah-Krishnanagar line.

Shri Jagadisha Pandita, an intimate associate of Lord Nityananda, was born in Gaihati to the devoted Vaishnava family of Kamalaksa Bhatta and grandson of Bhatta Narayana. After his parents’ departure, he lived with his wife Dukhini Devi near the Ganga, close to Jagannatha Misra’s home. On Lord Chaitanya’s order, he preached Harinama and brought a Deity of Lord Jagannatha from Nilacala to Yasora (near Cakdaha, Nadia), where his Sripata still exists with worship of Jagannatha, Gauranga, Radha-Vallabha, and Gaura-Gopala.
Jagadisha Pandita was formerly Candrahansa in Krishna-lila and was famous for ecstatic dancing. Lord Chaitanya and Nityananda often performed sankirtana at his home, and Mahaprabhu personally gave the Gaura-Gopala Deity to Dukhini Devi, promising eternal presence there. His son was Rambhadra Goswami. Jagadisha Pandita regularly visited Puri, attended Panihati Cira-dahi Mahotsava, and his disappearance is observed on Shukla Tritiya of Pausa month.

Sri Locana Dasa Thakura – Appearance Day 20 Dec 25
Sri Locana Dasa Thakura appeared in 1523 in Kograma village near the Ajaya River in Bengal. From childhood, he displayed deep devotion to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Although married at an early age according to the customs of that time, he remained highly renounced and absorbed in Krishna-katha. By the order of his guru Narahari Sarkara Thakura, he went to his in-laws’ home, where a divine incident awakened his complete renunciation, and he thereafter regarded his wife as a mother.

Sri Locana Dasa Thakura was initiated by Narahari Sarkara, with whom he lived in Srikhanda, learning the art of kirtana. On his guru’s instruction, he composed Chaitanya Mangala, narrating the divine pastimes of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. These pastimes were received through the mercy of Vaishnavas, especially from Murari Gupta’s Sanskrit Chaitanya-charita, which Locana Dasa heard from Damodara Pandita and memorized.

Written in simple Bengali poetry, Chaitanya Mangala is divided into four sections—Sutra, Adi, Madhya, and Sesha Khanda—and includes unique pastimes not found elsewhere, such as Mahaprabhu’s conversations with Vishnupriya Devi. Sri Locana Dasa Thakura was among the first to use multiple poetic meters in Bengali devotional literature.

He also authored other works like Prarthana, Durlabha-Sara, Dhamale, and translations of Jagannatha-vallabha-nataka and Rasa-pancadhyaya. His heartfelt songs glorifying Sri Nityananda Prabhu, such as Parama Karuna, emphasize Nitai’s unparalleled mercy and urge all souls to take shelter of devotional service.

On his sacred appearance day, devotees pray at the lotus feet of Srila Locana Dasa Thakura for devotion to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and the attainment of pure loving service to Sri Radha-Shyamasundara.

Sri Locana Dasa Thakura Ki Jai! 🙏🌼

Disappearance of Shri Devanand Pandit 🌸🙇🏻‍♀️

Devananda Pandit was a renowned reciter of the Shrimad Bhagavatam, but he lacked true devotional understanding. When the exalted devotee Srivasa Pandita became overwhelmed with ecstatic love while hearing the Bhagavatam, Devananda’s students mistreated him, and Devananda failed to stop this offense. Because of this, Mahaprabhu later strongly criticized Devananda, declaring that the Bhagavatam can only be understood through devotion (bhakti) and service to devotees.

After Mahaprabhu accepted sannyasa, Devananda felt deep remorse. His transformation began when he humbly served Shri Vakreshvara Pandita during a kirtan festival. Pleased by this service, Mahaprabhu forgave Devananda and instructed him that the sole message of the Shrimad Bhagavatam—from beginning to end—is pure devotion to Krishna, and that the book Bhagavata can be understood only by serving the devotee Bhagavata.

Following Mahaprabhu’s instruction, Devananda begged forgiveness from Srivasa Pandita, who embraced him, freeing him from all offenses. Thus Devananda became a foremost devotee of the Lord. His disappearance day is observed on the 11th day of the dark fortnight of the month of Pausa. 🌸📖✨
