Abakash Majuli

Abakash Majuli A registered NGO of the year 1984 - 1985, it was Inactive... It is now coming forward by the name ca This place is blended with beautiful art and craftsmanship.

Majuli is the largest river Island in the world and is located at the north bank of the river Brahmaputra . It's wide blue sky, the holy river floating across the bank and the beautiful landscape is one of the best example of God’s creations. Once you visit this place you will feel like getting touched with the heaven and you consider visiting again and again. Apart from it's natural beauty, Majul

i is also known for it's cultural celebration which is the greatest way to enjoy during anyone’s tour. Majuli is known for its rich culture which attracts thousand's of people around the world. Some of the most attractive Satria Culture are : Gayan-Bayan, Ankiya Bhaona, Borgeet of Srimanta Sankardev and Sri Sri Madhavdab etc. In addition to these Paalnam and Bhaona Mahotshav held at Auniati Satra ; Mukha-Silpa of Natun-Chamaguri satra; Raas Leela held at different satras attract the tourists. Majuli has got all the charm that can attract it's visitors towards it. The striking feature of Majuli is the pollution free environment, which will give a memorable experience. The hospitality and patronage of this place is just remarkable and one would love to visit this place again and again. Despite being the largest river island in the world Majuli has been facing many problems like erosion, bad communication etc since long time. Floods caused during the rainy season every year, loss lives of inhabitants and properties lagging Majuli back from it's position. As a result of devastating erosion caused by the Mighty Brahmaputra, the land area of Majuli has been reducing from 1260 sq. kms. to 800 sq. kms.(approx) now.The Flood control department of Assam, the Brahmaputra Board and the concerned contractors neglectng the needs and aspirations of the people of Majuli have been misusing the government fund totally. The local representative of Majuli is also failing to prevent the corruption. The permanent residents of Majuli have been migrating to other places for which population of Majuli has been decreasing day by day. The number of satras have also been reducing from 65 to 35 only. Human resources have been diverting their attention from Majuli to other places. If erosion is not controlled by the government, Majuli would be no more in near future. In addition, the people of Majuli have been suffering from absence of good medical facilities. Lack of modern technology in the hospitals, patients have to be taken to different places. No blood bank facility is available here as a result of which poor patients suffering from small diseases have to lose their lives failing to take to other modern hospitals located outside. Being residents and lover of Majuli we have established an NGO named "Abakash Majuli" to work as a pressure group aiming at protecting the geographical shape and size of the Island; cultural, medical, educational and socio-economic condition of the people of it. Now we cordially request the lovers of Majuli , the state government, the government of India and the UNESCO authority to offer helping hands for protection and preservation of the rich culture of the Island.
