The Alumni Engagement Cell (AEC), in collaboration with the CSE Department, organized an alumni campus visit featuring Mr. Arijit Mitra, an alumni of the B.Tech Computer Engineering batch (1998–2002) of Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology. Currently serving as a Solution Architect at L&T Infotech, Mr. Mitra shared valuable insights on industry expectations, career growth, and the importance of strong fundamentals in data and software engineering.
The interactive session with students of the CSE department emphasized adaptability, continuous learning, and practical exposure as key to professional success. The visit concluded with a campus tour, making it a memorable and enriching experience for all.

The Alumni Engagement Cell (AEC), in collaboration with the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE), SMIT, successfully organized an insightful Alumni Talk on “Adapting to Organizational Cultures” on 12th March 2026.

We were honored to host Mr. Rohan Dasgupta (Batch of 2015 – ECE), Transformation and Strategy Manager at Pidilite Industries Limited, who shared valuable perspectives on navigating workplace cultures and building a successful professional journey.

During the session, he highlighted essential skills such as proactive learning, ownership, effective communication, and strategies for active professional engagement. Drawing from his corporate experience, he provided practical guidance on adapting to organizational environments and fostering personal and professional growth.

The interactive session proved to be highly enriching for the 25 participating students, inspiring them to develop the right mindset and skills for future industry challenges.

We were honored to welcome back our esteemed alumna, Ms. Nabanita Ghosh (B.Tech IT, 2002–2006), for a heartfelt courtesy visit to her alma mater.

Currently a Software Engineer at Uneecops Technologies Solution, Noida, she engaged with faculty and students of the Department of Information Technology, sharing valuable career insights and perspectives on academic and institutional growth.

The visit also included a tour of departmental labs and facilities, making it a meaningful and nostalgic experience for both the alumna and our campus community.

We look forward to many more such inspiring interactions that strengthen our alumni connections.

The Alumni Engagement Cell (AEC), in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science Engineering, SMIT, successfully organised an insightful Alumni Interaction Session on 6th February 2026.

We were privileged to host Mr. Achute Sharma, Offensive Security Engineer at SentinelOne Cybersecurity India, and an OSCP Certified Professional, who engaged with students on the evolving landscape of cybersecurity.

During the session, he shared valuable insights on current trends and challenges in cybersecurity, career pathways in the domain, and the fundamentals of Offensive Security Engineering. His real-world experiences and expertise provided immense learning value to the 63 participating students.

Such interactions continue to bridge the gap between academia and industry, inspiring students to explore emerging fields and build future-ready careers.

The Alumni Engagement Cell (AEC), in collaboration with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, SMIT, successfully organized an engaging Alumni Interaction session on 26th March 2026.

We were honored to host Mr. Punit Priyadarshi (Batch 2004–2008), Safety Lead Gujarat Region at Turner & Townsend, who interacted with 2nd and 3rd year Mechanical Engineering students.

During the session, he shared valuable insights on current trends in the manufacturing sector, industry expectations from freshers, and practical guidance for building a successful career in the field. The interaction proved to be highly enriching for the 43 participating students, offering them real-world perspectives and inspiration.

Such initiatives continue to strengthen the bond between our alumni and students, fostering learning beyond classrooms.

The Alumni Engagement Cell (AEC), in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science Engineering, SMIT, was delighted to host an inspiring Alumni Campus Visit by Mrs. Solakni Sarkhel (Batch 2001–2004) on 16th March 2026.

Mrs. Sarkhel is an accomplished professional. She shared her journey from Infosys and Hewlett Packard (HP) to global exposure in London, followed by earning her MBA from HEC Paris. With rich experience in Energy Trading Risk Management and leadership roles abroad, she has now transitioned into entrepreneurship as the founder of YogaTroyee, a wellness studio in Kolkata, while also actively contributing to social welfare through Parivartan.

During her visit, she engaged with faculty members of the CSE Department, sharing valuable industry insights, career guidance, and perspectives on global opportunities. She also fondly reflected on her time at SMIT, calling it the “golden days” of her life.

Drawing from over a decade of experience across industry and research, she provided a comprehensive perspective on the integration of data science, statistics, and AI in modern clinical research. Sikkim Manipal Institute of Technology (SMIT) proudly congratulates Mr. Hiranmoy Gogoi, an alumnus of the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering (Batch 2011–2015), on winning the Best Editing Award (2025) for the film Gulai Soor at the Filmfare Awards Assamese 2026, presented in association with the Jeevan Ram Mungi Devi Goenka Public Charitable Trust.

This remarkable achievement reflects his creative excellence and dedication to the craft of filmmaking. The SMIT community takes immense pride in celebrating his success and wishes him continued achievements in his professional journey.
