🌿 Tackling Anemia Through Local Nutrition & Awareness 🌾

Anemia is a silent crisis—especially in tribal communities facing extreme poverty. Though nature has gifted us with powerful local remedies like greens, pulses, and iron-rich foods, lack of awareness keeps them out of daily meals.

With the generous support of OFSI, ASSCOD is changing that. đź’š
We’re conducting:
âś… Awareness sessions
âś… Local food demonstrations
âś… Nutritious meal programs for women and children

✨ The goal?
To empower families to use what they already have—to nourish, heal, and grow stronger every day.

Let’s build healthier lives together, one plate at a time. 💪🏽🍛

🌱 Supporting Those Who Serve the Underserved

Grassroots NGO employees are the backbone of social transformation. They dedicate their lives to improving the social and economic conditions of marginalized communities. Yet, many of these dedicated individuals—especially in smaller NGOs with limited resources—often do so without any social security benefits.

At our NGO, we’ve taken this issue seriously and initiated steps to ensure the wellbeing of our team members:

âś… Through the Sahayog scheme by Dhwani Foundation, our staff now have access to interest-free microloans and a revolving fund, which empowers them to engage in additional income-generating activities such as livestock rearing, dairy farming, and other small-scale rural enterprises.
✅ With the support of the National Foundation for India, we’ve enrolled our staff in a health insurance scheme that covers up to Rs. 3 lakhs per year.

We are continuing to explore and introduce additional benefits, because we believe:

👉 When employees feel socially and economically secure, they are empowered to serve the community with even greater passion and commitment.

Let’s build a stronger ecosystem for those who are building a better world. 💪🌍

Sowing the Seeds of Sustainability!
As part of our health project with OFSI, we've supported communities of OFSI target villages to set up nutrition gardens—a simple but powerful way to ensure better health and food security. These gardens, now filled with fruit trees and vegetables, are transforming lives by promoting healthy eating habits and encouraging self-reliance.

🌱 Transitioning from Charity to Social Enterprise: A Path to Sustainable Development

For years, our NGO has implemented various development projects rooted in the charity model. While they offered short-term relief, we realized they often lacked long-lasting impact.

That changed when we began transitioning to a social enterprise model.

By launching initiatives in spice powder production, wire bag weaving, and tailoring, we witnessed a powerful transformation. These ventures not only created sustainable self-employment opportunities but also opened doors for local employment, particularly for rural women.

This shift has proven that economic empowerment through enterprise leads to lasting social change.

We're proud to see our beneficiaries evolve from recipients of aid to confident entrepreneurs and skilled workers.

We now look forward to attracting social investment into these enterprises so we can scale further and benefit even more women in our communities.

Let’s continue building communities that thrive—not just survive.

🌞Summer camps are a great way to rejuvenate school children. 🌿

In today’s fast-paced world, children often face pressure from both school and family. They need a break—not just to relax, but also to explore, learn, and grow outside the classroom.

Recognizing this need, our NGO recently organized summer camps for school children aged (11-14). Through fun-filled activities, exposure trips, and value-based learning, the camps offered the children a chance to unwind and develop life skills in a joyful environment.

💬The feedback we received from the children was heartwarming—they felt refreshed, motivated, and more focused to continue their education without stress.💡
We’re proud to play a small part in creating a positive impact on young minds.

🌍 Localizing Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Holistic Development 🌱

Achieving holistic development requires a localized, need-based approach to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each community faces unique challenges, so the path to development must be flexible and responsive.

For instance, poverty eradication in one area may be best addressed through grant-based support, while in another, it might be more effective to provide market-driven skill training combined with interest-free microloans. So, each and every SDG would be achieved based on key need-based development activities and the efficient implementation of those activities with a clear monitoring and evaluation system in place.

To make real progress, SDG-focused organizations must:
âś… Identify key, context-specific development activities
âś… Implement them within a clear time frame
âś… Measure and assess their impact

Such tailored and impact-driven strategies are essential to achieving the SDGs meaningfully and sustainably. Let's build solutions that work from the ground up. đź’ˇ

From Villages to Visionaries: Skilling Rural Youth for a Brighter Tomorrow 🌟

Despite rising levels of higher education among rural youth, many still face challenges in securing quality jobs due to a lack of specialized skills and limited exposure compared to their urban peers. With more companies shifting operations to rural areas, now is the time to bridge this gap through targeted skill development.

Recognizing this need, ASSCOD, in partnership with Sun Pharmaceuticals Industries Ltd, trained 7 rural youth in:

Computer Applications

Typewriting

Beautician Course

Now equipped with practical skills and renewed confidence, these young individuals are better positioned to explore meaningful job opportunities and build a self-reliant future.

The Importance of Impact Assessment in CSR Initiatives

With the steady increase in CSR initiatives since 2017—particularly through partnerships between CSR funders and grassroots NGOs like ours—there is a growing need to assess the actual impact of these efforts.

A joint impact assessment, involving both CSR representatives and implementing NGO partners, is essential for:
🔹 Identifying priority areas of intervention
🔹 Preventing duplication of efforts
🔹 Aligning strategies with community needs

Alternatively, independent assessments conducted by CSR funders, with findings shared transparently with implementing partners, can provide valuable insights to refine approaches and maximize impact.

Conducting structured assessments ensures that CSR investments lead to measurable, sustainable development outcomes.

Let’s come together to strengthen accountability, foster learning, and create lasting change.

🌱 Tree Plantation Drive at Vilvarayanallur, Chengalpattu District – A Step towards a Greener Future! 🌱

ASSCOD (NGO), in partnership with Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd, has planted 450 saplings across 2 acres and 50 cents of land in Vilvarayanallur village. The saplings include Mango, Fig, Mahogany, Red Sandal, Vengai, Jamun, and Coconut – a mix of fruit-bearing and timber trees that will benefit both the environment and the local community.

This initiative aims to address climate change through sustainable tree planting efforts. Trees help regulate climate, absorb carbon dioxide, and reduce global warming. Over time, they also support biodiversity, offer food and shelter for birds, and create income opportunities for panchayats and local people.

By planting trees on unused lands belonging to government bodies, temples, schools and small farmers, we hope to build a more climate-resilient and green tomorrow.
