Sardar Avtar Singh Grewal grew up in Punjab, India and then moved to Punjab, Pakistan when his father Sardar Hakim Singh Grewal bought land. Sardar Hakim Singh Grewal served in the army, hence this was one of the reasons that he moved to Pakistan and at this time he shifted with his family. n who lived in Punjab, India. After their marriage they moved to Pakistan and this where Sardar Avtar Singh Grewal and his wife Sardarni Jagir Kaur Grewal had their first four children.

1947 was a year filled with turmoil and they were the trying times for the individuals who lived in Punjab, furthermore there was a lot of sadness and pain. At this time Punjab was divided into East and West Punjab. Many individuals had to endure a lot of pain and suffering, and one of these individuals was Sardar Avtar Singh Grewal. He had lost a lot and had no choice but to start from scratch again. This was a period when people lived under the sky because they had no homes. This is one story of an individual named Sardar Avtar Singh Grewal who lived at Chak #143 tehsil Pak Pattan, Jilla Montgomery. During the partition he left everything he had and moved to Budhewal in Dist. Ludhiana, Punjab, India, . Upon arrival to India he faced many harships and began to build the house which later went on to become his home. He worked hard and began to cultivate the land that was his in his new home. In this new home his family grew and he had his remaining six children in Punjab India. Punjab, India had become home for Sardar Avtar Singh Grewal and family.
