1947 was a year filled with turmoil and they were the trying times for the individuals who lived in Punjab, furthermore there was a lot of sadness and pain. At this time Punjab was divided into East and West Punjab. Many individuals had to endure a lot of pain and suffering, and one of these individuals was Sardar Avtar Singh Grewal. He had lost a lot and had no choice but to start from scratch again. This was a period when people lived under the sky because they had no homes. During the partition he left everything he had and moved to Budhewal in Dist. Ludhiana, Punjab, India, . Upon arrival to India he faced many harships and began to build the house which later went on to become his home. He worked hard and began to cultivate the land that was his in his new home.
