As we approach World Water Day (22 March) 2026, the Institute for Water and Climate Initiatives (IWCI) invites communities to come together for collective action towards Water Conservation and Gender Equality.

Water bodies are the lifelines of our communities-they sustain ecosystems, support livelihoods, and ensure access to safe water. Yet, they are increasingly under threat due to pollution, neglect, and climate stress.

Protecting and restoring them is not just an environmental responsibility, but a social necessity.

On this occasion, we are organizing a Cleanliness Drive at Nawab Tank, Banda (6:30 AM - 9:30 AM), encouraging citizens to take ownership of local water bodies and contribute to a cleaner, healthier environment.

Alongside, a Painting Competition on "Water & Gender" will provide a platform for participants to creatively express how water access impacts the lives of women and girls and envision a more equitable future.

Every drop counts. Every action matters. Let's come together to protect our water, our future.

Women Taking the Lead for Clean Air and Sustainable Cities

On the occasion of International Women's Day, a special session titled “She Cares – Clean Air We Must Share” was organized at the Regional Passport Office in Lucknow. The session was hosted by Chintan (Environmental Research and Action Group) in collaboration with the Regional Passport Office.

The event brought together nearly 100 women from diverse professions—lawyers, doctors, professors, teachers, sanitation workers, students, and homemakers—to discuss the importance of clean air, waste management, and environmental responsibility.

Chief Guest Smt. Rashmi Bharti mam, Head of Swachh Bharat Mission at Lucknow Municipal Corporation, emphasized the importance of household waste segregation, stating that responsible waste management begins at home and that women play a crucial role in ensuring proper waste segregation.

Representing the Institute for Water & Climate Initiatives, Prashansha Gupta highlighted that collective efforts and cooperation are essential to protect our planet and create a healthier future.

The session concluded with a pledge by all participants to work together for clean air, responsible waste management, and environmental protection.
