TSA India Program Committed to Conserving India's Freshwater Ecosystem In addition, ongoing field surveys are carried out on various rivers and water bodies throughout India.

In 2003, a long term program for the conservation of freshwater turtles and tortoises was initiated in collaboration with Forest Departments from concerned states across India and other conservation agencies. The project focuses on addressing the conservation status of endangered turtle species by a combination of captive breeding and restocking programs and habitat protection and management efforts.
