Debate & Discussion Committee DDC's Official Facebook Channel. Progress in legal scholarship and policy academia necessitates exchange of dialogue upheld with effective oratory.

The Debate and Discussion Committee has been endeavouring to cultivate an active culture of dialogue and discourse within the University, ever since its establishment in 2008. Foremost events organized yearly by the Committee include its flagship tournament - RML Parliamentary Debate, a legal-themed niche - The Alternative Debate, and National Hindi Debate; witnessing quality participation of stud

ents, scholars and professionals from across the nation and abroad. Alongside, it organises year-long intra discussion and debating competitions, workshops and meet-ups in order to provide a platform to the college students to develop, hone and retain their understanding and skills. The breadth of legal and policy profession requires adaption and analysis of socio-cultural environment. To further this aspect of learning, the Committee continuously strives to develop a healthy temper towards diverse opinions and perspectives within the college environment.

The Debate and Discussion Committee hereby informs all concerned that its debate allotment function will remain suspended from May 1, 2026, until further notice. During this period, no claims for debates will be processed, and the Committee will not be providing liaisons for debate registrations.

Further, any tournaments scheduled after May 1, 2026 shall not be eligible for claims, irrespective of whether such claims are made at present.

Debates allotted prior to this suspension will continue to be managed as per the existing procedures.

Individuals who wish to register for debates during this interim period may do so independently. However, they must inform the Committee at [email protected] before proceeding. Failure to comply may result in strict action.

Attention Debaters!

The last date to register for the Debate and Discussion Committee’s flagship event RMLPD XIV is tomorrow, i.e. 6th April, 2026.

This is your final chance to register before you miss out on the competition of a lifetime!

Tournament Details:
Date: 10th to 12th April 2026
Format: British Parliamentary Debate
Venue: Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Sec D-1, Kanpur Road Scheme, Lucknow (226012), Uttar Pradesh, India

CAP: K. Dhruv Singh, Yashovardhan Balakrishnan, Kaushiki Ishwar, Mohit Hooda and Sanjyot Umbrajkar

Eligibility: Open (Institutional Contingents need to have 50% or more NCM participation)

Cross Teams: Institutional crosses (teams with speakers currently studying in two different institutes) are allowed. A team with graduate members can also register as a Cross team.

Adjudicator Policy: N = N/2

Registration Fees:

₹2500 per person with accommodation
₹2000 per person without accommodation

The clock is ticking, the Waiver Form deadline for the 14th edition of RMLPD is fast approaching. Be sure to submit your form within the stipulated time to avoid missing out.
