Swatantra Talim, a NGO working in the field of education - for the children, of the children and by the children aims at bridging the gap among children created by socio-economic factors in our country. If we teach democracy to our children in school curriculum then we must practice what we preach in managing our schools also. Our organisation provides an environment which gives children an opport

unity to practice democracy. Thus we are a space of learning for the children, of the children and by the children. To achieve this objective, it strives to co-create an environment wherein children can explore, engage and empower themselves. It believes in democratic ways of education, where children learn through free exploration, every-day life experiences, interactions and engage with their surroundings and problems in a holistic manner so as to empower themselves to deal with the changes in society and environment.

Art gives us the space to express.
Science gives us the grounding, the rationale, the thinking routines, the courage to question.
At Swatantra Talim, we try to nurture scientific temperament in all our engagements with children, through experiments, trials, building ideas, testing them, and sometimes even proving them wrong.
Because as Karl Popper reminded us, knowledge grows when we are willing to falsify our own theories.
Here’s to celebrating science not just as a subject, but as an experience.. full of curiosity, exploration and discovery.

Day 2 of Aashayein 2026 – Lalaikheda Primary School
Our chhota school created one of the biggest dhamakas on 24th February!
Their poems, thoughtfully made props, and powerful performances caught everyone’s attention. Parents were the first to share how proud and happy they felt seeing their children on stage and around the exhibition.
The most beautiful part? The children became their own directors — shaping their performances with confidence and ownership.
Alongside this, they showcased their making, art explorations, ideas, reflections, and even solutions to problems they had identified around them.
Another day of voices, courage, and creativity — and we carry this energy forward to the next school

The first exhibition happened in Ashraf Nagar Govt School on 21st Feb. Lot of parents, teachers and students showed enthusiasm and excited to see their children telling about handpump, art works and showing them mesmerising performances.
It was an unforgettable day and we as a team had a great time.
