With a heart full of gratitude, as the sun sets on another year, I feel that we need to pause to cherish the gifts we often take for granted: the precious gift of life, the fast decreasing currency of time, and the unwavering love and support of family and friends.
My younger son Rafay's favourite poem a few years ago was Leisure by WH Davies -link to the poem below- here just a line - "...No time to see, in broad daylight, Streams full of stars, like skies at night....A poor life this is if, full of care,We have no time to stand and stare."
To my Lucknow Farmers Market team—you are the heartbeat of our movement. Your dedication to our work - our farmers, artisans, and most importantly our planet is what makes this community possible. I am deeply thankful for your energy and your spirit.
I encourage everyone to take a moment (or two!) for yourself. Practice self-care—not as an indulgence, but as a necessity. Rest and recharge so you can return with renewed energy.
As I look to the future, I am guided by the wisdom of Guru Nanak:
Kirat Karo: Work with dedication so that what we do serves others.
Don’t eat what pollutes the body.
Don’t speak what hurts others.
Don’t think thoughts that pollute the mind.
May the year to come be a calmer, kinder, and more compassionate place for us all. Happy New Year from me to you.
