*Urgent Humanitarian Appeal* for Intervention in the Plight of Sahara Employees in CONMT.PET.(C) NO. 1820-1822/2017. (I.A.) No. 283346/2025 & (I.A) No. 258857/2025
Respected Hon’ble Chief Justice of India,
With profound respect and a sense of utter desperation, we, the former and current employees of the Sahara Group, appeal to your compassionate conscience to personally consider the extreme and protracted hardship we have endured for over a decade.
While the legal proceedings in the captioned SEBI-Sahara matter continue, our lives have been systematically dismantled. Our situation is not merely one of delayed salaries, but of a complete abandonment of legal and moral obligations by the Sahara Group, leading to a grave humanitarian crisis:
1. Forced Retirements & Illegal Terminations: The Group arbitrarily imposed a retirement age of 58 years and removed a large number of employees without clearing their long-pending salary dues, Provident Fund, Gratuity, or TDS liabilities. This has thrust experienced, loyal employees into sudden financial ruin during their most vulnerable years.
2. Coerced Resignations Without Compensation: Many employees were forced to resign under duress without any settlement, forfeiting all rightful claims to their unpaid salaries, accrued PF, gratuity, and other statutory benefits.
3. Systemic Withholding of Statutory Dues: The non-payment of the employer's PF contribution, TDS, and gratuity has not only deprived us of our retirement security but also exposed us to legal and financial penalties from government authorities, compounding our distress.
4. Livelihoods Destroyed, Future Extinguished: As a consequence of these actions, we find ourselves on the road, struggling for basic survival. At this age, finding new employment is nearly impossible. Our lifelong hard-earned savings, meant for our children's education, healthcare, and family welfare, have been obliterated. We cannot afford medical treatment, our children's futures are compromised, and we have been unable to perform essential family duties like the marriage of our sons and daughters.
We have filed an Intervention Application (I.A.) to formally place our plea before the Hon’ble Court. However, the daily reality of destitution compels us to seek your benevolent and direct attention to this urgent human tragedy unfolding alongside the legal process.
We earnestly pray that Your Honour, in your wisdom and kindness, may be pleased to intervene and direct the creation of a swift and transparent mechanism for the verification and immediate disbursement of our legitimate dues from the available funds under the Court's supervision.
Our only hope for justice and survival now rests in your compassionate intervention.
With deepest reverence and hope,
Sincerely,
Employees Welfare Association
