The evening's centrepiece was the unveiling of 'KuruSetu' โ€” a proposed Alumni Centre on the NIT Kurukshetra campus โ€” which was warmly appreciated by both dignitaries. The Director and the Chairperson, while encouraging deeper alumni involvement in mentorship, placements, entrepreneurship, and institutional development, both expressed serious concern about the declining mental and emotional health of students and urged NITKKRAA to take ownership of building a sustained, long-term mental health support programme. Generous donors and contributors were felicitated, and a productive discussion on the roadmap for structured alumniโ€“institute collaboration rounded off a memorable and forward-looking evening.

The highlight of the evening was the unveiling of ๐—ž๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐˜€๐—ฒ๐˜๐˜‚ โ€” a proposed Alumni Centre within the NIT Kurukshetra campus โ€” presented by Er. Atul Lal. Envisioned as a permanent bridge between alumni and the Institute, KuruSetu aims to serve as a dedicated hub for mentorship, industry interaction, networking, and sustained alumni engagement. The concept was warmly appreciated by both the Chairperson and the Director, who recognised it as a transformative step in deepening the alumniโ€“institute relationship.

Addressing the gathering, ๐—ฃ๐—ฟ๐—ผ๐—ณ. ๐—•๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐—ต๐—บ๐—ท๐—ถ๐˜ ๐—ฆ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด๐—ต appreciated the unwavering support of the alumni community and called for deeper engagement in mentorship, placements, entrepreneurship, and institutional development. He also spoke with particular concern about the declining mental and emotional health of students, acknowledging that recent distressing incidents had underscored the urgency of the issue. He urged alumni โ€” as people who have walked the same path โ€” to help build a sustained, structured mental health support programme for students, emphasising that this is a responsibility the alumni community is uniquely placed to fulfil.

๐——๐—ฟ. ๐—ง๐—ฒ๐—ท๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜„๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ถ ๐—”๐—ป๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜๐—ต๐—ฎ ๐—ž๐˜‚๐—บ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ expressed genuine happiness at the strength and enthusiasm of the alumni turnout and warmly appreciated the vision behind KuruSetu. She encouraged alumni to invest deeply in mentorship, industrial exposure, placements, and student well-being. She, too, spoke directly about the mental and emotional well-being of students, describing it as one of the most pressing challenges facing institutions today. Acknowledging recent untoward incidents with visible concern, she urged NITKKRAA to take ownership of building a long-term, sustainable mental health programme โ€” rooted in empathy and human connection โ€” and expressed her earnest hope that the Association would rise to this moment with urgency and compassion. She also emphasised the importance of organising more such alumni gatherings regularly to keep the fraternity engaged and connected.

A moving felicitation of donors and contributors who have generously supported scholarships, awards, welfare initiatives, and infrastructure projects was a highlight of the evening. The programme also featured a productive interaction session on the roadmap for alumniโ€“institute collaboration, with discussions around a possible Joint Working Committee to oversee specific projects.

The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Er. Vipin Rai Sardana, Secretary, NITKKRAA, followed by dinner and warm networking among alumni across generations. DAM โ€“ 2026 reaffirmed, in the most heartfelt terms, the enduring bond of the alumni community with their alma mater and their collective resolve to contribute meaningfully to its future.

e NIT Kurukshetra Alumni Association is proud to share that, Sh. Sushil Kumar Singla, IFS an alumnus of (1987-1991) has co-authored a major new publication titled โ€œForest Resources in India: Integrative Governance and Community Participation for Sustainable Futureโ€, which was officially launched on 5 December 2025 by spiritual leader Dalai Lama at McLeod Ganj, Dharamshala.

๐Ÿ“– About the Book

The book is brought out by National Book Trust, India (NBT) and is a collaborative work by Sh. Sushil Kumar Singla, IFS along with co-authors Rakesh B. Sinha and Krishan Kumar Raina.

At the launch event, the Dalai Lama personally signed a copy of the book, while Singla briefed him on the major themes and research insights of the work.

Core Themes & Vision

The book offers a comprehensive analysis and roadmap for sustainable forest management in India, focusing on:

The importance of community participation, especially involving women, tribal groups and local institutions, in conservation and forest governance.

The need for integrative governance โ€” connecting forest policy with agriculture, tribal development, environmental protection, and climate-change-related initiatives โ€” rather than treating them as isolated domains.

Advocacy for balanced policy measures that reconcile ecological conservation with economic growth โ€” encouraging public-private collaboration, livelihood generation, and sustainable rural development.

A renewed push towards the national goal of increasing forest and tree cover across India, while ensuring that forest governance supports social equity and long-term sustainability.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to him and wish that his work inspires more alumni to engage in meaningful research and nation-building endeavours.

The NIT Kurukshetra Alumni Association (NITKKRAA) hosted a grand Golden Jubilee celebrations for the 1975โ€“80 batch on November 28 and 29 marking a memorable milestone of 50 years of friendship, learning, and shared legacy. Alumni from across India and abroad graced the occasion, making the two-day reunion a powerful reflection of nostalgia, bonding, and lifelong connection with their alma mater.

The celebrations began with registrations, where NITKKRAA warmly welcomed the alumni and presented them with mementoes. The programme also featured podcast recordings with alumni, capturing their life lessons, memories and contributions for future inspiration. Lunch was arranged at the respective hotels. In the evening, the alumni were taken on a cultural visit to Brahma Sarovar and Gita Gyan Sansthanam, where they experienced the spiritual and cultural heritage of Kurukshetra. The day concluded with a gala dinner at Hotel Veta.

On November 29, the second day of the celebration continued with engaging group interactions, sharing of memories, and batch-wide discussions reflecting on personal and professional journeys over the past five decades. Later in the evening, the alumni visited Jyotisar, the historic site associated with the Bhagavad Gita. The celebrations came to a close with a formal dinner at Hotel Divine.

The Golden Jubilee Celebrations ended with hearts full and spirits high, as the alumni relived unforgettable memories and renewed their lifelong connection with NIT Kurukshetra. And with the same excitement, we cannot wait to welcome the batch once again for the Golden Jubilee Graduation Celebrations in 2030.
