It registered under the Societies Registration Act.35 of 2001 in the year 2003, vide Regd.No.264/2003 and also registered under the FCRA, 12A & 80G of Income Tax Exemption Act, 1961. Sri.G.Mallikarjuna, President of SERUDS received ‘Flood-2009 Seva Award’ from his Excellency Governor of A.P., Sri.E.S.L. Narasimhan. ‘SERUDS’ distributed relief material, clothes, utensils to 7500 families of victims in the flood- affected areas of Kurnool District, Andhra Pradesh State. The work done by SERUDS specific to Women Empowerment:
Our proudest achievements:
• 110 women, youth and general public were sensitized on environment protection.
• 74 destitute women belongs to dalit & downtrodden were provided skill trainings in fashion designing, embroidery and zari work and provided sewing machines for establishments of self employment units.
• 225 women who were victimized under domestic violence and work place harassment have been sensitized on legal awareness.
• 80 women who were divorced and deserted were provided income generation activities and assisted to live with dignity.
• 5 bio gas plants were constructed for 5 dalit women
• 90 adolescent girls belongs to dalit and backward communities were provided computer skill training for a period of 6 months.
• 10 women beneficiaries were trained in LED & Solar Systems
• 20 women beneficiaries were trained in maintenance & repairing of LPG stoves
• 52 rural women were sensitized on energy conservation
• 45 street children were mainstreamed.
• 180 victims of dalit and human rights atrocities were counseled and supported.
• A team of 16 persons of SERUDS evacuated hundreds of people particularly of women and children, who strucked in flood waters.
• Provided immediate relief like food pockets, water and milk to 700 persons
• Provided relief material like clothes, blankets, utensils and food stuffs to 7500 flood victim families.
• Constructed 5 huts to flood victims of destitute women, whose huts have washed away in recent floods.
• Educational material and clothes was distributed to 450 school children. Our main aim is to empower women through livelihood opportunities. We have been focusing on dalit and downtrodden destitute women like divorces, widows, deserted and adolescent girls. SERUDS supports women who have been victims of domestic violence, illiteracy, child labour, etc., We have been providing skill trainings in various trades like fashion designing, embroidery, zari work, soft toys making, computer training, etc. Our aim is to develop skills and create sustainable income generation activities for the disadvantaged women and adolescent girls. So far we have strived hard to assist number of women & girls through GIVE INDIA, Individual philanthropists and local donations. There are number of destitute women & needy adolescent girls, who are suffering from discrimination, harassment and atrocities at home and in the community. We would like to build confidence among such women and make them to face the challenges boldly. We observed lack of financial independence is the main hurdle for their empowerment. Hence, we focused on skills trainings and creation of income generation. We have identified such needy women who are eagerly waiting for our help & assistance.
