KVIB Cutting and Tailoring Training Course Concludes at Kulgam

Kulgam, March 10: The valedictory ceremony of the six-month Cutting and Tailoring Training Course organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB) in collaboration with AKWO Foundation Kulgam was held today at Think and Win Technologies Computer Training Institute, Town Plaza Complex, Kulgam. The programme ran from 14 August 2025 to 15 February 2026.

The programme was graced by the Lead District Manager of Jammu & Kashmir Bank, Iftikhar Ahmad Padder, while Nighat Ara, District Officer KVIB, attended as Guest of Honour.

Speaking on the occasion, Padder congratulated the trainees for successfully completing the course and highlighted the importance of such skill development initiatives in empowering women and youth and promoting self-employment opportunities in the district. He encouraged the participants to avail themselves of various government-sponsored schemes and banking facilities to establish their own tailoring units and small-scale enterprises.

The training programme was conducted free of cost, and each trainee was provided a stipend of ₹3,000 during the course. A total of 25 girls from Kulgam successfully completed the training and received their certificates, marking the culmination of the six-month skill development initiative.

Guest of Honour Nighat Ara appreciated the efforts of the trainees and emphasized the role of skill-based training programmes in strengthening livelihood opportunities and promoting self-reliance among women.

Officials from KVIB and representatives of AKWO Foundation appreciated the dedication and enthusiasm of the trainees and reiterated their commitment towards promoting skill development and livelihood generation initiatives in the district.

The trainees expressed gratitude to KVIB and AKWO Foundation for organizing the programme and equipping them with practical skills that will help them become self-reliant and contribute to the socio-economic development of the region.

As part of the exhibition, the AKWO Foundation Kulgam installed a dedicated stall showcasing the creations of students enrolled in its free six months Cutting and Tailoring Program. The stall displayed a variety of skillfully crafted dresses and garments made entirely by the trainees, reflecting their growing expertise and the Foundation’s commitment to women empowerment, skill development, and livelihood generation. The stall attracted significant attention from the Chief Minister other dignitaries, visitors and aspiring entrepreneurs.
