Welcome,

On the auspicious day of Ashtami Rohini, celebrating Lord Krishna's birth, the Kerala Elephant Foundation launched our very own robotic elephant.

This elephant, built with love and attention to detail, represents a new era in elephant culture and festivities in Kerala.

While maintaining key elements of Kerala tradition, this robot relieves elephants, which we liken to gods, of heavy labor at festivals and ceremonies.

It ensures all people are safe from accidental deaths at festivals, and relieves owners of the costly maintenance of elephants.

This event is just the start. Our robot elephant, lovingly named Sivan in honor of legendary elephant Sivasundar, will be used in activities across Kerala southern India, and beyond.

He will be guided by a former mahout, an individual who has left his past of elephant keeping in order to learn the art of maintaining robotic elephants.

Our efforts, met with rivalry or skepticism by some, continue onward undeterred. With Sivan we shine the light for elephants in Kerala, in India, and in the world.
