đŸŒŧThe fragrant candle-making unit of TAS at Sindebong, Kalimpong, has moved to a new home.
After four years of consistent work, the girls of 'The Ajambari Tales' have also formed their own Self-Help Group.

We hope that this unit will continue to train more girls, helping them learn new skills and create sustainable livelihoods through their work.

Choosing such a remote region, conducting training and workshops, building a brand and working towards making it commercially sustainable is certainly not an easy journey. But at the end of the day, seeing the beautiful work created by these girls gives us renewed strength and inspires us to keep going! 💕

❤ī¸Some associations become deeply meaningful despite geographical distance. Sanghita RudraMazumder is one such patron who has continuously found ways to support our organisation and the work we do.

Through Sanghita, we had the privilege of becoming associated with Asha-Jyothi.org Pennsylvania, an organisation that has been working extensively for the community for several years. It is truly an honour to know and be supported by them.

Ashajyoti Foundation had earlier helped us raise funds to purchase essential machines for our new batch of beneficiaries. This time, Sanghita organised a beautiful, intimate fundraising event at one of their picnics, where handcrafted products made by our beneficiaries were put up for sale.

And what happened next was heartwarming — our products sold out within an hour!

I am deeply grateful to Ashajyoti, Sri Ghatta and, of course, Sanghita for recognising the value of the work we have been trying to build over the years and for finding such meaningful ways to support it.

A very special thank you to Dido and Dina, Sanghita’s beautiful children, who volunteered at the event. I am immensely proud of these two, and of all the other children who came forward to help them. Seeing young people participate with such warmth and sincerity makes this association even more special.

I cannot thank these wonderful people enough for believing in our work, valuing the hands and skills of our beneficiaries, and making space for us within their own community.

It truly feels like a community.

Because geographical distance means very little when thoughts, values and intentions are aligned. ❤ī¸

Today is '⧍⧍āĻļ⧇ āĻļā§āϰāĻžāĻŦāĻŖ'; the day Rabindranath Tagore left us, only to become immortal in a way few human beings ever have!

Even today, we perhaps cannot fully fathom the depth of his intellect, his humanity and his extraordinary vision. Tagore was one of those rare artists who realised the fullest possibilities of being humane!

It is not merely his enormous body of literary and artistic work that continues to astound us. It is also the vision towards time and society, his dream of an inclusive nation, his belief in artistic and intellectual exchange with other civilisations and cultures, his deep empathy for the marginalised, his recognition of the need to preserve, nurture and uplift traditional art and heritage and ofcourse his unique spiritual expression - still leave us speechless!

He understood the importance of rural cooperatives, village banks and economic self-reliance, long before many of these ideas became part of mainstream development thinking. He believed that education, culture, dignity and economic empowerment had to go hand in hand.

A gigantic genius, a philosopher, an artist and a visionary with an extraordinary golden heart — Tagore imagined an India rooted in its deepest values, yet open to the world; an India that was inclusive, secular, compassionate and culturally rich. Perhaps that is why, more than a century later, we are still discovering new dimensions of his thought.

⧍⧍āĻļ⧇ āĻļā§āϰāĻžāĻŦāĻŖ is not a day of mourning for us. It is a day to revisit the India that Tagore dreamed of, and to ask ourselves how much of that dream we have truly carried forward.

☘ī¸Today, on National Handloom Day, we salute the weavers of India- the keepers of our heritage, whose skill, dedication and resilience deserve far greater recognition, dignity and fair wages.
India's textile industry has been one of the strongest pillars of our economy for centuries and the weaver community of this country carried forward these rich handloom traditions against all odds. Their craftsmanship is not just a livelihood, it is a living legacy passed down through generations, it is pride of our country! Huge respect to them 🙏
At TAS, we have had the privilege of working closely with tribal women weavers and witnessing their lives firsthand. Despite numerous challenges, they continue to preserve the ancient tradition of backstrap loom weaving. Sadly, this unique craft is on the verge of disappearing. As we celebrate National Handloom Day, we hope that people have the commitment to recognising the true value of India's handloom heritage. Conservation, fair livelihoods, and sustained support for our artisans are essential! Hope we choose handloom more ! For the artisans, for the environment and for us!!

There's something special about pausing your reading and returning to a page marked by a handcrafted creation instead of a folded corner or a scrap of paper. ☘ī¸đŸ‚

Today marks the 165th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore and perhaps never before has he felt this relevant.
In a time of noise, division, aggression and shrinking humanity, his words still remind us of compassion, freedom of thought, dignity, culture and coexistence.
It's time to embrace his words, his work, his vision more genuinely, truthfully. 🙏

**Project – Geetimalya**
**School – Swami Chaitanyananda G.S.F.P. School**

Sensitivity to music and talent may exist everywhere, but environment, circumstances, and reality do not give everyone the opportunity to nurture that awareness. With a little care, their space to grow expands—at least the horizons of their inner world widen to some extent. And the results can be far-reaching.

Today’s world is not suited to the minds of children, and it will not become so unless we keep trying to preserve, even a little, the space needed to nurture their tender sensibilities.

*Geetimalya* is one such effort.
Listen to how beautifully they sing! đŸŒŧ❤ī¸

đŸŒŧOn 8th of March, we celebrate the many shades of strength that make TAS what it is.

From our training programs where women learn skills and build independence, to Shohaag, where creativity and craftsmanship find their voice, to The Ajambari Tales, where every candle carries a story of resilience and warmth, our journey has always been shaped by women.

The spirited women of TAS, the grassroots fighters who challenge every barrier with courage and the beautiful souls who stood beside us with trust and support, this day belongs to all of you.

Here’s to women who create, who struggle and who nurture, lead, light the path for others.

Happy Women’s Day. ✨

NOTE- Yet on this Women’s Day, we cannot ignore the reality around us. In a country where women still face extreme violence in and outside houses, deep insecurities and inequalities, gets r***d everyday, celebrations mostly seem futile. Our hope is that the strength of women at the grassroots continues to challenge this reality, until dignity, safety, and justice are not aspirations but true in the real world.

đŸŒģđŸŒŧ With immense pleasure, we are announcing a new collaboration between *TAS* and *Asha Jyothi* .đŸŒŧđŸŒģ

Asha Jyothi is a non-profit social organization working towards livelihood development and empowerment of underserved communities through skill-building and sustainable support systems.

The first phase of our collaboration was marked with Asha Jyothi Pennsylvania Unit's support with essential machines for our Tailoring and Stitching unit in Siliguri. And we couldn't be more grateful for this meaningful support. 😇

Beyond this, they have assured continued involvement—observing our work with new beneficiaries, guiding the process, and standing alongside us as we move forward. This is just the beginning.😇

This collaboration was formally announced today at the certification ceremony of beneficiaries who successfully completed Tailoring and Stitching Training conducted by TAS, in collaboration with Reach India Trust, held at the Siliguri Shohaag store/workshop.

The ceremony marked not just the completion of training, but the start of a more empowered and self-reliant journey for our beneficiaries.

We look forward to building meaningful impact together through shared commitment and collective effort.

Wishing everyone a warm and joyful Poush Parbon, Pongal and Lohri. 🌾đŸ”Ĩ
May this harvest season bring growth, hope, and new opportunities for all.
