Volunteer cultural group in Jhamapukur Park, Kolkata — we nurture talent in music, theatre, dance & community events. Bahir Simla Sanskritik — Our Story
Bahir Simla Sanskritik is a volunteer-run, non-profit cultural collective formed by the residents of Jhamapukur Park
, Kolkata. We are a multi-generational group of neighbours — students, professionals, elders and young artists — united by a shared love for the fine arts and a commitment to community welfare. Through regular programmes in music, theatre, dance, visual arts and literary activities, we provide friendly, low-barrier opportunities for performers and creators of all ages to learn, collaborate and share their work. Alongside performances, we run small social-service initiatives and awareness activities that address neighbourhood needs and strengthen the social fabric of our locality. What we do:
- Organise fine-arts showcases, community performances and cultural festivals.
- Provide a safe, encouraging space for emerging artists and inter-generational collaboration.
- Run community outreach events and small social campaigns reflecting local priorities.
- Invite residents to volunteer, perform, teach workshops, or support event logistics. Culture and care go hand-in-hand: art opens hearts, and a connected community lifts everyone. Whether you’re a performer, volunteer, sponsor or audience member, your participation helps us build a more vibrant, inclusive Jhamapukur Park.
