When skills evolve, lives transform.

A new chapter of women empowerment has begun at Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society KMSWS!

With the generous support of the Rotary Club of Calcutta South Suburban and the Eastern India Rotary Welfare Trust (EIRWT), our Vocational Training Centre has been upgraded with 3 Jack Flatlock Machines and 1 Jack Interlock Sewing Machine.

These advanced machines will help women who have already completed basic tailoring training at KMSWS enhance their skills in market-linked garment manufacturing.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished Rotary leaders, including Rtn. P.B. Mitra, Rtn. Tapati Dutta Gupta, Rtn. Anita Banerjee, Rtn. Susanta Hanpal, and other members of Rotary International District 3291.

Impact:
Around 200 women will receive advanced tailoring training every year
Better employment and self-employment opportunities
Stronger livelihoods for rural families

Raksha Bandhan is a celebration of the beautiful bonds that bring us together. This Rakhi Purnima, Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS) is taking that bond of love beyond our families — to 50 elderly and underprivileged beneficiaries who deserve care, companionship and dignity.

Empowering farmers with sustainable agricultural practices is key to building resilient rural communities.

Recently, Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS) organized a Farmers' Awareness Meeting with 27 marginalised small farmers in collaboration with the Block Agriculture Office, Diamond Harbour.

Agriculture officials conducted an informative session on:
Kitchen Gardening for household nutrition
Bio Farming and eco-friendly cultivation practices
Sustainable agriculture for healthier soil and better livelihoods

The interactive meeting encouraged farmers to adopt environmentally friendly farming methods that improve food security, reduce cultivation costs, and promote long-term sustainability.

KMSWS sincerely thanks the officials of the Block Agriculture Office for sharing their expertise and supporting our farming community.

You Donated. We Planted. Together, We Are Restoring the Sundarbans.

Every contribution creates a story of hope.

A few months ago, KMSWS launched the "Restore the Green Shield of Sundarban" fundraising campaign, inviting compassionate individuals to join hands in protecting one of the world's most fragile ecosystems. The campaign emphasized that every ₹100 donated helps plant and monitor one mangrove sapling for a year.

Today, we are delighted to share that the impact has begun.

Thanks to the generosity of our donors, 1,000 mangrove saplings have been planted in Patharpratima, Sundarban, helping restore coastal ecosystems and strengthen natural protection against cyclones, tidal surges, and coastal erosion.

These young mangroves will:
Protect vulnerable coastal villages
Reduce the impact of cyclones and erosion
Support biodiversity and local livelihoods
Contribute to climate resilience for future generations

This achievement belongs to every donor who believed in our mission. Your support has already taken root in the Sundarbans.

The journey doesn't end here. Thousands more mangroves are still needed to safeguard the Sundarbans and the communities that depend on them.

Celebrating Banomahotsav with a Greener Tomorrow!
Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS) was delighted to celebrate Banomahotsav (Tree Plantation Festival) with the support of the West Bengal Forest Department.

We were honoured to welcome Mr. Subhasis Halder, Forest Ranger, along with officials from the Forest Department, who visited KMSWS and distributed 200 saplings among our school children and teachers.

The saplings included fruit-bearing and cyclone-resilient tree species, encouraging children to plant, nurture, and protect nature while strengthening climate resilience in our communities.

At KMSWS, we believe that every child who plants a tree becomes a guardian of the environment. Through such initiatives, we continue to promote environmental awareness, biodiversity conservation, and a greener future for the next generation.

We sincerely thank the Forest Department for their continued support and partnership in creating environmentally conscious communities.

"Mobility is more than movement—it is dignity, independence, and hope."

A wheelchair can do much more than help someone move—it can help rebuild confidence, restore independence, and open the door to a new beginning.

Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS) is deeply grateful to the Rotary Club of Calcutta South Suburban, along with the distinguished leaders of Rotary International District 3291 (RID 3291), for supporting the distribution of two wheelchairs to two persons with disabilities in Diamond Harbour, South 24 Parganas.

We were honoured by the presence of eminent Rotarians including Rtn. P.B. Mitra, Rtn. Tapati Dutta Gupta, Rtn. Anita Nan Banerjee, Rtn. Susanta Hanpal, and other Rotary members who personally handed over the wheelchairs.

One of the beneficiaries, Md. Asifuddin (35), lost his right leg in a road accident nearly ten years ago. This wheelchair will enable him to move independently, access opportunities, and take meaningful steps towards rebuilding his livelihood.

Our heartfelt gratitude to the Rotary family for standing beside the differently-abled community and helping transform lives through compassion and action.

Awareness Saves Lives. Early Detection Saves More.

Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS), in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Calcutta South Suburban, recently organized a Cancer Awareness Programme to educate and empower the community about the importance of early detection, prevention, and timely treatment of cancer.

The session was led by renowned Dr. A.K. Majumder, who shared valuable insights on cancer prevention, common warning signs, healthy lifestyle choices, and the importance of regular screening.

The programme witnessed the participation of 57 community members, mostly women, reflecting the growing need for awareness and preventive healthcare in rural communities.

We were honoured by the presence of Rotary leaders from Rotary International District 3291, including Rtn. Anita Nan Banerjee, Rtn. P.B. Mitra, Rtn. Susanta Hanpal, and Rtn. Tapati Dutta Gupta, whose continued support strengthens our community health initiatives.

KMSWS sincerely thanks the Rotary Club of Calcutta South Suburban, Dr. A.K. Majumder, and all participants for making this programme meaningful and impactful.
