The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to education, inclusion, and creating equitable learning opportunities.

This achievement reflects the collective efforts of our dedicated team, teachers, volunteers, partners, donors, and the communities we serve. It inspires us to continue strengthening access to education and opportunities for children and marginalized communities across rural West Bengal.

"School Chale Hum" – Inspiring Young Minds, Building Brighter Futures!

What happens when education, innovation, and opportunity come together?

Recently, Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS), with the generous support of I2U Foundation (India Is Us) and Hilti India, successfully organized School Chale Hum 2026 at Ultodanga Govt. Sponsored Higher Secondary School for Girls, Kolkata, reaching 300 students through a day of learning, creativity, and inspiration.

The programme included:
Educational awareness sessions
Quiz competitions
Hands-on STEM learning activities
Distribution of educational materials
Interaction with professionals from corporate and social sectors

One of the most memorable moments was the STEM session. Students became so engaged in building, experimenting, and solving problems that many didn't want to stop even for lunch! This enthusiasm proved that when children are given opportunities to learn by doing, their curiosity knows no limits.

The initiative also strengthened school infrastructure through the donation of 8 large green boards, educational support materials, and mattresses, creating a lasting impact beyond the event itself.

Our heartfelt thanks to I2U Foundation and Hilti India for their continued partnership over the past three years. Together, we are helping children dream bigger, learn better, and prepare for a brighter future.

Because every child deserves the opportunity to learn, explore, and succeed.

Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS) is looking for a Senior Executive – Communication to strengthen our storytelling, digital outreach, documentation, and impact communication efforts.

From the villages of South 24 Parganas to the Sundarbans, KMSWS works in education, nutrition, women empowerment, livelihoods, climate action, and community development. We are looking for someone who can bring these stories to life and help us reach more supporters, partners, and communities.

What You'll Do:

Create engaging social media content
Document field activities and success stories
Develop reports, newsletters, and donor communications
Capture impact through photos, videos, and storytelling
Support organizational branding and outreach

Who Should Apply?

2–3 years of experience in communications, NGO/development sector, journalism, or social impact field
Strong writing skills in English and Bengali
Knowledge of social media, Canva, photography, and content creation
Passion for social change and community development

A Rakhi, A Health Check-up, A Warm Meal... and a Reminder That Our Elders Are Not Forgotten.

For many elderly people in rural communities, a simple gesture of care can mean the world.

Recently, Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society (KMSWS) organized its annual Rakhi Bandhan Celebration and Free Health Check-up Camp for underprivileged senior citizens at Tiyas School and the RCC KMSWS campus. A total of 61 senior citizens from 14 villages came together to celebrate love, dignity, and community, while 49 elderly beneficiaries received free medical screening and consultation.

The day was filled with Rakhi tying, cultural bonding, health services, gift distribution, and a community lunch. Most importantly, it brought smiles to faces that have spent a lifetime caring for others.

This beautiful initiative was made possible through the support of:

A very special thanks to Dr. Arnab Hati, Founder of Heal & Care Nursing Home, for voluntarily conducting the health camp and providing medical consultations, ECG, blood sugar, and blood pressure screening services completely free of cost. His compassion and dedication ensured that many elderly citizens received much-needed healthcare and guidance.

To every donor, volunteer, Rotarian, Inner Wheel member, and supporter—thank you for proving that kindness still changes lives.

Together, we celebrated not just Rakhi, but respect, dignity, and humanity.

When skills evolve, lives transform.

A new chapter of women empowerment has begun at Kankura Masat Social Welfare Society KMSWS!

With the generous support of the Rotary Club of Calcutta South Suburban and the Eastern India Rotary Welfare Trust (EIRWT), our Vocational Training Centre has been upgraded with 3 Jack Flatlock Machines and 1 Jack Interlock Sewing Machine.

These advanced machines will help women who have already completed basic tailoring training at KMSWS enhance their skills in market-linked garment manufacturing.

The programme was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished Rotary leaders, including Rtn. P.B. Mitra, Rtn. Tapati Dutta Gupta, Rtn. Anita Banerjee, Rtn. Susanta Hanpal, and other members of Rotary International District 3291.

Impact:
Around 200 women will receive advanced tailoring training every year
Better employment and self-employment opportunities
Stronger livelihoods for rural families
